I visited and stayed at the guesthouse and latter moved and stayed in the beach huts. I liked both the places. If you want somewhere close to the beach the beach huts are ideal and good value. If you want the shops and bus stop nearby than the guesthouse will suite you better. savio castello the owner is always helpful to arrange your train travels. He will tell you tales of what goa is today with the corrupt politicians and what go used to be from his fathers time. So if you are going to goa and going to benaulim try castello's tourist nest r-- eal value

I visited Castello's Tourist Nest and found it fantastic. The owner, Savio Castello, was very helpful. He picked me up on arrival at the Madgaon Goa railway station. He has some beach huts which are being replaced at present with bathrooms and en suites. I do not think this place is that bad compared to other parts of India. Please do not be a cheap Charlie.

I booked this guesthouse on the Internet, stupidly going on the rating that Mr. Castello gives himself. I'd booked a double room with en-suite and balcony, but what I got was a disgusting filthy hovel. There was no ceiling, just tiles, many of which had fallen to pieces on the bare, bloodstained mattress of the bed. A piece of filthy rag was nailed across the window, and to flush the loo, I had to put my hand down into the cistern water and pull a piece of metal that stuck up. We stayed for about an hour and decided it was too unhygienic to spend a night there. I wouldn't recommend this slum to anyone.

I stayed at Castello's Tourist Nest and found the place very attractive and the owner, Savio Castello, was friendly and helpful. Also, he made arrangements for me to buy train tickets because I got stuck in Goa for over a week. Thanks to Savio for organizing my train tickets. I should say Castello's charges less money and the service is good. The rooms and the beach huts are kept clean. I have traveled in India for 5 months and Benaulim and Castello's had much better standards than the accommodations in places like Mumbai and Delhi.

Warning, make sure you know just what accommodation you're going to get! I booked a double room off the Web site based on the picture and when I got to the resort I was offered a tin hut at the back of the beach, which I declined. I then spent the night in what can only be described as a very basic (and not too clean) room on the ground floor a long way from the beach. Savio is a very friendly guy, but he had no apology for this state of affairs and needless to say there are better guesthouses in Benaulim for 300 Indian rupees per night. I left after the first night and found better accommodation for the same price.

I have visited this guesthouse and beach huts and to tell you the truth this was one of my loveliest, cheap, and relaxed holidays. It has a very nice relaxed environment.
