We arrived to be shown to our room in an adjacent hotel (Hotel Euginas) that Rena's Place is renting out for three years. At first we were put in a room at Rena's Place, but were then quickly told that they made a mistake and someone else had that room. This did however give us the opportunity to compare rooms in Rena's Place and rooms in their 'rented accommodation'. There is a definite difference in room size, with bathrooms in particular being unbelievably small in Euginas (you have to step to the corner of the bathroom to open the door fully). However, this was only one of the issues I had with this place. The room we acquired had no remote for the air-conditioning, and unfortunately, due to reception only being open from 9-5 when this was found out, there was nothing that could be done. In addition, the cleaners are simply shocking. Don't get me wrong, they do clean the room, but although the room was left tidily with nothing on the floor we returned to find clothes inside our bags that had been left out on the chair. Our wet clothes were moved from hanging inside the room to dangling from the balcony (obviously they thought they would dry quicker, but personally I would have preferred my clothes to be kept inside a locked door all day!). And for some unbelievable reason the cleaner put a bottle of red wine (that I'd left on the desk) into the fridge (I'm sure I don't need to point out that only white wine should be chilled!). Oh, and then we were told that their card machine had broken and we had to pay by cash. Although they had warned us a day in advance about this, they decided against acquiring some 'change' which was a tad annoying when I only had 20s on me! I know these are little things, but collectively they just became annoying.

Nothing is too much trouble for the owners and staff of this small, budget hotel and we highly recommend a visit. It is ideally situated about 10 minutes walk from the centre of Thira (Fira) thereby giving you the benefits of a quiet location but within easy reach of the capital and it's numerous shops and restaurants. The description given by the owners is spot on apart from they omitted to say how wonderful and friendly they are. We shall definitely return.

Excellent hospitality. This place has clean rooms with wonderful views. It's just a short walk to the town center. Buses from town will take you to incredible beaches for cheap! I would definitely go back again to the Villa Rena!
