2  Bedbugs detracted from nice room/great location This is a hotel/hostel located within walking distance of Dupont Circle. I stayed here for a day to hang out in DC proper before heading to the National Harbor for a conference. Inquired about switching to a single (vs dorm) and was told that there was a big price difference, and as the dorm was booked, they'd be putting me in a room w/ one other traveler. Was assigned to room 3, which has a set of bunk beds, and one queen sized bed. I slept on the latter. Room was nice enough, not a ton of light, but seemingly clean, with fresh white sheets and bathroom, trendy orange patterned pillow, LG tv. Front desk staff is local, multiethnic, helpful enough. I went out to dinner w/ an high school friend but was tired from the work week and returned to the room relatively early. Surfed the internet on the free wifi, then went to sleep. When I woke up in the a.m., my arms (hands, wrists, distal forearm; I had worn a long sleeved shirt to bed) were itchy. By the time I took my a.m. shower, I had large red welts. The next day my arm (L was affected more then R) was intensely pruritic and swollen, and by 48h later, the bites had evolved into bullae. 4 days later, I am still taking oral antihistamines and using topical corticosteroid creams. I did tell one of the guys at the desk about the bedbugs, and also e-mailed the hostel/hotel the day of my departure, but have still not heard anything back. If it were not for the bedbugs, I would have highly recommended this hostel/hotel. However, given the bedbugs, I'm left wishing I had spent the extra money and stayed somewhere without this issue and avoided the whole rash and physical embarrassment and need for long sleeves in the summer for now. The area south of the hostel/hotel (heading toward Dupont Circle) was nice. I didn't really venture north, but the area didn't seem as nice/safe from what I could see. Regardless, there are tons of hotels in DC, and maybe not everyone has the same aversion/reaction to bedbugs as me, but I personally would look elsewhere until the bedbug situation (at least in room 3) is addressed.  , USA ()
4  Great room, great location This is not a cheap hotel, but the room, location, and service is excellent. Very friendly staff.  , The Netherlands ()
