1 We arrived at CDG airport around 10 p.m., got a taxi straight to this "hotel" and were greeted by a rude lady who liked to yell in French at us really loudly. We were followed up four flights of stairs that looked like they were almost ready to collapse, carrying my heavy suitcases right to the top. We entered our room to find it was filled with insects. It stunk like mould and the bed was a piece of wood with broken wheels lying on the floor. The mattress was full of holes and stained, the "blanket" was no thicker than a piece of cardboard and we used our own pillows because the small things that were there were absolutely disgusting. Again, we only stayed here because we had been travelling all day and just needed sleep. We couldn't go to the toilet here because it was pure filth and the shower and sink were the same. The entire place stank very badly; it looked as if it had never been cleaned. In the morning we quickly got our stuff ready, packed our bags and left. We told the rude staff we had to leave and wanted the rest of our money back. After about 30 minutes, the manager called and ended up giving us SOME of our money back, which was good enough for me because we didn't want to even stand in the building for one minute longer. This hotel is a waste of money. If the health inspectors knew about it, along with the building inspectors, it would be shut down immediately. I regret spending my first night of Paris in this dump. Don't stay at this hotel unless you want to ruin your trip and waste all of your money on a useless "hotel." You're better off sleeping in the gutter.

3 I was in this hotel one year ago. The woman at reception indeed speaks French only, but she is very friendly. The location is good: there are quite a few bars around and a Metro at only 150 meters. I stayed on the top floor so I even had a view of the Eiffel Tower, just like in a Hollywood movie. :D. One day there was a man lying (drunk? unconsciousness?) on the floor in the hallway, but fortunately there was someone helping him. It was a strange experience.

1 This "hotel" merits NO STARS. Hotel Richard is cheap, and the location is not bad, BUT it was the FILTHIEST place I have ever stayed in my life. The quality of upkeep is QUITE POOR, and there's no way it should be classified as a hotel. The floors in the rooms were covered in DUST, and in the private bathrooms MILDEW, DUST, and water on the floor and in the grimy bathmat were abundant. The smell of the ONE communal shower I located kept me and a friend from showering for a few days. I wasn't too sure if the sheets or blankets were clean, but it is doubtful. It seems there is some sort of LEAK in the radiators, as my room and all my belongings were saturated with the smell of NATURAL GAS each morning. And if this review has not been scathing enough, I swear to God there was BLOOD (or some sort of human secretion) smeared on the ceiling and walls of the quad I stayed in. Payment is upfront, and the woman at reception speaks FRENCH ONLY. This leaves very little room for complaint and/or negotiation if your french skills are poor or nonexistent. If you're not looking for a hotel horror-story, you may want to dish out a few extra euros per night and stay elsewhere.
