The Albayzin Backpackers Hostel combines character with cleanliness. It's not a raucous party hostel, but it has a friendly atmosphere. French speakers will feel welcome here, as French is the managers' main language.
The Location
This hostel has an excellent location in the heart of the Albayzin, Granada's atmospheric old Moorish neighborhood. Red mini-buses make frequent stops nearby, taking passengers to the Alhambra and the center of town (Plaza Nueva). The Albayzin is a bit of a maze, but it is definitely the most scenic and interesting part of town to stay in. Guests receive a free map of Granada at check in.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Our four-bed room had a pleasant view of a winding, cobblestone street and the neighbors' flower boxes. The dorm rooms are small, but are not overcrowded. The bathrooms are new and sparkling clean. The only negative is that the showers are cold.
Common Spaces
There are two free internet computers in the lobby and a sunny patio outside where you can read, have a beer, or eat breakfast. The free breakfast during our stay was on the minimal side -- toast with jam and orange juice. A major plus is that the kitchen is bright and clean and lacks the typical hostel-kitchen grunginess.

This hostel is ideally situated for exploring Granada and is highly recommended!
