Unfortunately the time i spent there the weather was so poor i dont think any campsite would have been fun. It was pouring rain and we were in a tent, so you can do the math. The tent leaked a bit, and yes you do have to share it with others, but we were lucky enough not to and therefore the tent only leaked on one of the beds that no one was sleeping on. It smelled a bit foul due to the rain, but really what can you expect for 12 euros per person per night. Essentially you get what you pay for. I would recommend it if you're on a budget because Salzburg can be pricey for accommodations. — Andee (2006-08-27)
The one star is for the personel and the other for the toilets and showers. Further is was very poor for a campsite in our opinion. You have to stand in line for the showers otherwise you don't have hot water anymore. There is no place to sit dry and comfortable if it is raining (except if you have your own camper). You can sit in the cooking building which is also the TV room, but its raining inside there too, because the roof is leaking and there has been no maintaince i guess. If you come with a group and you want to use the cooking facilities, thats not possible. There are two hot plates and thats it (you have to pay fifty cents for twenty minutes cooking). There are very few plates, cups, and knives. The TV has two transmitters so thats not much. But there is a dvd player (only they have no dvds). We thought the location of the campsite was pretty bad. It doesn't represent austria at all. Its a noise in the night (railway on your right hand, high way on your left hand). The spots to put up your own tent are not straigt and that might be a problem if its raining. Further they tell you on their website they rent bikes. thats not true, they don't. If you decide to come to this place, be prepared to go with very nice weather, bring your own cooking facilities (or go out to dinner) and have a camper. It's no fun in your tent if its raining an its five degrees celsius at night (we went last week -- it was very cold). — Marloes & Michan (2006-08-09)
I stayed here for two nights in my second trip across Europe. The toilets and the showers were more than acceptable, the staff were somewhat helpful, and it wasnt that hard to go to the city. (Bus stops right at the entrance and takes about twenty to twenty-five minutes.) However the tents were filthy (this is a campsite by the woods, i get that, and spiders and little mosquitoes are okay but snails and worms in various sizes and mice are too much) and the beds were extremely uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend Kasern nowadays. — Gelertscot (2006-07-16)
This place is out of the way but accessible by bus. For your money you get a moldy tent to share with others, camp beds and no linen, a broken small kitchen and dirty bathrooms. It's cheaper than a hostel in Salzburg but not so great. — Tesh n' Ben (2005-11-22)

For a campsite, this was really good. It was clean and organized. They had laundry, showers, a small store, and friendly service. The location is not central, but Kasern is really lovely and it's not hard to get to town (one stop on the train). — Sandra and Ray (2005-10-08)
