The Hotel Jaguar in Costa Rica is far from new, and if they set the standard in Cahuita, Cahuita is in trouble. (Cahuita is actually a nice place). Contrary to some "reviews" the only food now served at the Jaguar is a very mediocre breakfast. The staff is overworked and somewhat on the surly side. The rooms are big, but depressingly sparse and not all that clean, and I'm not sure what "generous wooden trim" is meant to evoke. I would not recommend this place to a friend, and the claim of a security guard is dubious. My travel partner and I arrived late at night and it took us 20 minutes to roust a staff person. The buzzer at the desk was broken and we had to resort to car horn honking to roust the "security."
