More personable than most YHA properties Stayed in a private double room with en-suite in May 2007. The room was clean and comfortable, good value for budget travelers. Common spaces were pretty ordinary. It is an easy five- to eight-minute walk to the hot springs and shops, and there is ample parking. The owners/managers were friendly and available to help. This was certainly the most personable (and smallest) YHA property we stayed at in New Zealand. — Ian , USA (2007-05-28) This hostel is on the very low end of average. The furniture in the lounge is shabby, the kitchen was dirty, ill-equipped, and poorly arranged. The tables are to small and there are only two sinks for everyone to do their washing in.
