I had a wonderful experience at this hostel! I would highly recommend it! The location is the best -- there's a metro directly in front of the hostel, and most of the main buses and trams leave from Praca de Figueira, or from Rossio which is right adjacent to Praca de Figueira. So in terms of location you can't get any better. You have views of the Castelo Sao Jorge and the Alfama barrio right from the balcony so it's very beautiful. The hostel has two floors (it's on the fourth and fifth floors of the building -- no elevator but worth the walk up!). We stayed on the upper floor, and it was like a converted-over house. The upper floor has three bathrooms, a kitchenette, an eating area, and a living room with a big screen TV (great for watching the nightly football games!). The hostel was impeccably clean. The maids come in every day to make the beds, vacuum, so our rooms were always spotless when we came back. The shared bathrooms were also extremely clean. There is no breakfast included, but it's only 14 euros per person per night for a private room, so you really can't beat the price. My one complaint was that they allow smoking, so a couple nights we smelled the guests next to us smoking but only when we were out in the hallway -- it didn't smell in the actual rooms. Other than that, this hostel was amazing! We stayed there for five nights, and I definitely plan on returning soon! Portugal is amazing and the people are wonderful. This hostel is also recommended by the official government tourist bureau, so you know you're getting something good! I promise this hostel won't disappoint!
