4  Good hostel -- friendly staff We stayed at the Oasis hostel for 3 nights. We didn't book in advance but that was not a problem. The hostel is located near the train station and near Luxortemple. Good location! We were welcomed very friendly with Egyptian hospitality. The staff is very friendly. There's a great rooftop with a view where breakfast and dinner is served. You can also get beer. Prices are good. The rooms are big. The bed was a bit hard though. At the corner of the street across the juice bar there's a good place to eat. They serve delicious lamb. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Oasis hostel.  , Dutch ()
4  Good, friendly The hotel is very basic but good value for the money. Rooms are clean, there are working showers and toilets, air-con and ventilators. The roof terrace is a great place. Breakfast is sufficient and the dinners are very good. And quite valuable in Egypt, personnel are friendly and helpful and don't ask extras for all kinds of services (for carrying luggage or cleaning the room). During our stay Mohamed was always present on the roof terrace to serve drinks, food, sheesha, or just to have a chat. Two points of advice, The pillows of the beds are very hard. Something softer might be welcome. It would be interesting if excursions into town could be organized. Just to meet the common people of Luxor and to see how they live there. It would be a welcome deviation from all the gods and farao's.  , Dutch ()
