Very good value your money
I really enjoyed my time in Spain. Hostal AB was extremely close to many shops and stores, and it was a close walk to the sights. I was very pleased with the service and cleanliness.

Affordable.
Hostal AB hosts a friendly environment that is quite far away from anything worth seeing in Granada. It is in an area that is kind of rundown but still safe. We stayed in an apartment that was right by the hostal. We didnt have hot water one day but overall the apartment was great. We had two rooms, a kitchen, and a shared bathroom -- all of which were really clean. We walked everywhere and it was quite the hike up to the Alhambra. The Alhambra is a must see so make reservations ahead of time! Also go eat at Al-Andaluce which has fabulous pita sandwiches.

This was the first hostal we stayed in on our trip around Spain, and it was fairly cheap compared to most places we stayed. The staff were very friendly and helpful giving us lots of information in English. The rooms were clean and not at all smokey. We also didnt see or hear anything of this nightclub that is supposed to be underneath it, in fact we found it difficult to find any nightlife near it except some good tapas bars. This is the only bad thing about the hostal, as it is not particularly close to the centre of town (but still walking distance).

I stayed here with my husband in the beginning of Oct. 2005. It is a fine place but there are a few things which the other reviews do not say. This is a smoking hostel, and most rooms smell of smoke. It's clean, just smelly (for non-smokers). There is a nightclub underneath this hostel, which starts at midnight and finishes at 3 a.m. Request a room away from this as we were kept up all night and had to request to shift in the morning. This hostel attracts may people, locals out to party, travelers out to see the sights, and some shifty people out to be shifty. It's not unsafe and it's not a bad place — just be warned.

If you're going to Spain go to Granada, and stay here. After years of thinking hostels were for the under 25s I found this little gem, and it's suitable for all ages. It was absolutely safe (as is the city) with someone in the reception area 24 hours. It's also clean, warm, inexpensive, and all the staff were helpful. Senor Sanchez, the owner, could not do enough to make my stay better. His advice on where to eat, drink and sights to see was invaluable, and, if like me you are trying to learn Spanish, he always had time to explain things in a way that was easily understood. One choice: STAY HERE!

This place has the friendliest staff you will ever met. They welcome you and give you neat ideas and places to check out in Granada. It's in the south of the city, but everywhere in Granada is accessible by foot. I would recommend staying here.

I stayed here in Granada for a few nights with my brother, and this hostal was one of the best places we stayed in all of Europe as it was very cheap, and we had our own room, and the bathrooms are great! And all the individual bathrooms (separate from our room), had their own shower, toilet, bidet, etc. So for less money than all the other places we stayed, you got your own room and bathroom to yourself! Lovely. And Granada is a beautiful place! Highly recommended!

Let me just say that Jose Antonio is a God! He is the nicest man alive. After staying three days in Granada at this impeccably clean and very comfortable hostal, I was on my way to Valencia. I packed all my gear, said goodbye to my friendly host, and thought I was on my way, leaving Andalucia for good. Instead, I ended up missing my night train. So I called Jose from the train station in hopes of finding a place to sleep that night. He tells me the hostal is full. SO what does he do? He gives me his bed for the night and sleeps on the couch! I couldn't believe it. I ended up staying with his mother for two nights in the Sierra Nevadas in the beautiful town of Bulbion. In Bubion, I had a whole kitchen with stove, oven, refrigerator, all to myself, in addition to a tv, spacious living room, the works. For two nights in the mountain, and the extra night in the hostal in Granada, Jose only charged me 40 euros! It was the cheapest three nights I had in Spain. If you go to Granada, definitely stay at the Hostal AB and learn the true meaning of generosity.
