I stayed at this hotel in July of 2006, after doing research trying to find the best value for a 3 night stay while in New York to see a Madonna concert. Overall my stay at this hotel was acceptable, I enjoyed it for the most part. Upon checking in, I paid in cash in full for my stay, they wanted my credit card to run in case there was any problem, I did not allow them to swipe the card as I had not brought it with me to new york, thankfully they let me stay without needing that. They put me in a 5th floor room, which was at the very top of the building, the Stairs are a complete killer, after walking around all day in New York and having to climb those stairs it was dreadful but once inside the room it wasn't too bad, the air conditioner worked fine, the room was clean. The alarm clock however didn't work and I missed being on the Today show cause it didn't wake me up in time, I Was a bit upset about that. There was a bar located right next door to the inn, I didn't hear anything from the room, was able to get a good night sleep each night. I really liked Nana's Treats downstairs they give you a voucher for a drink and cookie for breakfast every morning, that was nice. The staff were friendly enough, don't expect a 3 or 4 star hotel, this is not in, but for money it seems suitable as a 2 star in my opinion. IF I had my time back though I wouldn't have stayed here, I would have tired a hostel and saved even more money. — Blair W. , Canadian (2007-05-13)
I was horrified to learn from several different people that they paid cash for more than one night, did not get a receipt, and then were called to the office the next day to pay again. They were forced to pay twice. One of the victims was from Japan, and two were from Australia. Several of the toilets did not flush and the showers were filthy. Do not stay at this horrible hostel -- they steal from you. — Christina , USA (2007-04-14)
This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We stayed on the fifth floor (no elevator). The room was dirty, there were no simple amenities such as coat hangers, the safe in the room didn't work, and there was a very bad odor throughout the place, which was sickening. If that weren't bad enough, there are a number of bars located on the street below which provided the sounds of loud drunken revelry until 3 or 4 a.m., followed by the screeching and grinding sounds of the garbage trucks coming through immediately after. It was simply dreadful. — Traveler (2005-05-19)
I did not even give this "hotel" one star because it was atrocious. There was no elevator to carry luggage up the four flights of stars. My partner and I had to carry four very large suitcases that barely even fit up the staircase. The rooms were small and infested with bugs. The day we left I counted fourteen bug bites on my legs. The bathroom had to be shared and was in a disgusting state. The first shower I had the curtain rod fell on me and the water taps didn't work properly. Of the four nights we stayed there I probably had one decent shower, even though that was the time the rod fell on me. There was not one good thing about this hotel and we were amazed to find that a four star hotel was the same price and was 300 percent better than this dump. We selected this hotel on the basis of comments that people had left on its Web page and so I felt it was necessary to reveal the real truth about this hotel. I would rather have stayed on the streets of New York City than in this hotel. This was the only glitch in such a beautiful city and had we not stayed in this hotel I'm sure our experience would have been much better!!! — Anonymous (2005-04-17)
