Hostelz.com's Review
Coconut Palms Resort (previously known as the Wild Pig) is tucked away in a residential area of Port Vila. It's a short nine hundred-meter walk to the start of the city or a very quick bus ride.

The common areas are large and breezy, there are two bar areas with one that overlooks the swimming pool. There are also two dining areas with the same menu at each (moderately priced). You can order a large pizza for a very reasonable price -- not too pricey for a "resort" meal in Vanuatu. During peak season, we stayed for four days and only saw three other people using the massive pool. The entire building is spotless and is basically brand new.

As the name suggests, the majority of the rooms here cater to a more upmarket crowd -- socialising with like-minded budget travelers will probably be rare. The larger dorm room has two areas -- one with four bunk beds and the other with a double bed and bunk bed. The dorms are spotless, beds are brand new, and you get added extras you'd normally expect at a hotel (soap and towels, as well as your bags delivered to your room). There is one bathroom per dorm (unisex) -- massive and spotlessly clean but located outside the room just next door. These are for exclusive use of the dormitory guests and you have the whole bathroom area to yourself. You can use the lockers in the room for a small deposit.

There are also pool tables downstairs in the bar and a rather pricey internet cafe. It's much cheaper to use the net in town but still handy to have. The resort advertises that some rooms had TVs or DVD players, but these are absent in the dorm rooms. Who cares -- you're in Vanuatu!

5  Hidden gem! I can't understand why no one else was around when I visited. On second thoughts, don't go there. I'd love to keep this one to myself. Wicked pool and great bar (kava bar is next to hostel as well).  ()
