Location | • Hidden deep in a secluded mountain cove in the Pisgah National Forest, 35 minutes north of Asheville, North Carolina, USA, Mountain Light Sanctuary is a magical gateway into the world of nature. Bordered by two cascading creeks and ringed by the highest mountains in the eastern USA, it holds an energy and an ambiance which are nothing less than magical.
• Mountain Light Sanctuary is a gateway between the human world of "busy" and "doing" and the natural world of harmony and "being." It is your base camp for exploring hundreds of miles of trails meandering through the half million acres of National Forest, or inner explorations from your own special spot under an ancient hemlock, on a mossy rock amid the ferns, or in a secluded grotto beside the creek.
• The Sanctuary is ideal for personal & small group retreats. Guests have a variety of unique accommodations to choose from including our Hermitage, Treehouse, Balihouse, Hobbithut, Gnomelodge and our main facility, Elfhaven Lodge.
• With its spacious porch overlooking our cascading mountain stream, the Hermitage is a perfect place for personal retreat. Elfhaven Lodge is available for groups, couples and individuals. It features five bedrooms, our common kitchen, a large sun deck, gazebo and a wraparound porch.
• Other features on the property include our woodstove sauna, a small bamboo grove, a Japanese garden, a stone circle, flower gardens & an organic vegetable garden. You can enjoy an icy dip on a hot afternoon in the cascading creek which borders the Sanctuary or explore one of the hundreds of miles of trails that lead into the mountains. They will lead you to secluded caverns, waterfalls and misty, fern laden glens where you can spend an hour or an afternoon with a good book or a special friend.
