Excellent value hotel, though staff could be more cheerful
We spent four nights here exploring Riga and surrounds. The hotel/lobby/breakfast room/hotel room was spotless. The hotel is not too far to the old town by foot (one-and-a-half kilometers), though you can catch the trolleybuses to the train/bus stations/city. It is not a party/meeting place for those who might be used to the hostel scene (but this was perfect for us). The room had TV and mini fridge. It was easily found by following their instructions. The buffet breakfast had cereals, cold meats, fruits, yogurts, and cooked sausages, scrambled eggs, and pancakes, in all you can eat fillings! On the negative side, the staff could smile a bit more. They were not rude in anyway, but all the front desk staff looked like they were depressed or recently lost a family member or something (either that or they are underpaid)! And despite giving them three days warning about us wanting to extend our stay, they were unable to keep us in the nonsmoking room we were at, putting us into a severely smelling smoking room. Oh and they did not have any lift for the four-plus floors that they had, and charged for the use of the safety deposit box unlike any other hotels we stayed with recently.
