How is New World Hotel rated on other websites?
The room was very tiny an with no window. It is a good place if you just need to stop by for1 or 2 nights, what was my case. The area it is very vibrant all day and night. The hotel is clean and the people was helpful. It was ok for my needs this time.

The only positive: The staff. They were really nice.
Negative: Too dirty, too small rooms, that room which I booked was given to somebody else, shower out of use, not recommandable.

The room was so small i could barely open my suitcase! The walls are thin that you can hear everything! It is ok if you're chinese as it's right near china town but if you're not it's not a fun experience! There was only 1 shower on my floor which meant i had to always listen out for the bathroom door. The staff were not very helpful. I would not go there again.

Friendly staff, ideal if your just looking for a bed, however it's very noisy and needs some renovation

The location is excellent! walk to nice and cheap chinese restaurants, or to little italy. subway station within 200 meters! don't expect too much of the room

The bed was comfortable but that was the only bonus. The walls and ceilings had NO acoustic properties and I was awoken during the night many times by converstaions at Reception and the other rooms. The internet was ridiculously slow.

I was so surprised when I came there cause the references werent so good but it was really nice there...clean, big Tv and own bathroom on the room. I was pretty satisfied and I recommended to everybody.

It would have been good if the rooms were a little warmer, the temperature was too low and during winter it is very cold and so a little uncomfortable in the room, other than that the place was fine but the reception could have been a little more helpful and obliging. Overall its ok and if not looking for extras a good place to stay and conveniently located.

Hardly any of the staff spoke English or understood very well. This is Chinatown NOT China.

The room, basically, was just a bed with four walls around, no window, and you can hear your neighbours (left, right, above) as if they were with you. There's almost no quiet time, so if you want to sleep at some point, no not forget to take ear plugs!
But then, if you're used to travelling around the world in cheap places, and all you need is a place to sleep, it's still a good deal regarding the prices.

Place was indeed like a cell but you get what you pay for. Rooms are somewhat clean and the shared showers have hot water. Location is ok.
— Timothy, Singapore (2010-10-11)

The place is dirty and sound-proofing is bad. Tissues, hairs and soaps are everywhere in the shared bathroom. You can hear the road noise and whats happening next door clearly. Not recommended for travellers with a lot or big luggages, as you may need to climb to the 5th floor by foot.

it's a paradise for smokers and hell for non-smokers.

Nice enough, friendly staff, close to subways, walking distance to lots - east village, Little Italy etc. Wireless access was down for one full day, causing a few problems.
Staff changed sheets, towels etc daily.
The price, as always, was problematic - the promised rate of $55 daily escalated to about $75 daily with fees, taxes and such.
Rooms uninsulated and quite noisy, noise from halls, adjacent rooms, cleaning staff. Earplugs necessary.

A lot of problems at checking in, tiny, dusty room, nasty bathroom. Location was pretty good though, centrally in chinatown w grocery, teashops and subway right around the corner.

it is a good location close to all the things a visitor wants to see in NYC on their first visit - and great eating places in Chinatown and Little Italy; the room is extremely small and the bathroom is not impeccable in terms of cleanliness- found somebody's hair in the shower cabin- but otherwise it is OK, with friendly and helpful staff and a neat and tidy room. The room cost us $129 per night for the two of us which was not bad for this location I think.

A good place to sleep and... not much else

very hard bed, flat pillows, the original posted rate was 75 but I ended up paying 130. Taxes and fees apparently. There are better deals if you don't mind taking the subway but this was very close to everything I needed
