Description
OLD STREET HOTEL high recommended by LOnely planet 2007.

Our hotel is located in the Old Quarter at the center of Hanoi; a charming neighborhood of French colonial buildings on narrow tree lined streets near Hoan Kiem lake. There are many cafes, restaurants and street stalls offering local Vietnamese and international foods. Shoppers will be happy browsing through the small shops selling local handicrafts, art, books, silk, clothing, jewelry and so much more.

The hotel location is also very convenient for visitors to go to the sites in the capital like Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Museum, Ethnic Museum, Temple of Literature, West Lake, Quan Thanh Temple, Tran Quoc Pagoda ..etc..
It just take 40 minutes from the Noi bai international airport. Although located in the center of the city, the Old Street Hotel is very comfortable, quiet and clean. We offer high standard rooms, a restaurant and attentive customer service. All the rooms are equipped with IDD telephone, air-conditioning, cable TV, refrigerator, comfortable bathroom, hair-dryer, coffee and tea making facilities.
Using hotel computer with interenet ADSL for free.
We take great pride in our very warm, friendly, honest and professional staff. Our accommodating manager is fluent in English, French and Vietnamese.
For your convenience, Any your booking at Old Street Hotel will get a free water puppet show, free pick up from bus or train station. In case you make the booking over 3 nights, we offer you the pick up from the airport for free.
we offer a transit stop so you can securely store you pack while you wonder arround Hanoi and grab a shower before leaving on night trains and buses for other exciting destinations.
Have a great journey!

1 The morning staff were rude and abusive. The room was filthy -- every time I moved something, I found more dirt and crusty old stains, carefully hidden. (My mistake, not giving the room a more thorough examination before I agreed to stay, but it was 5 a.m., and I was exhausted.) The clerk tried to charge me extra fees for the remote controls to the air conditioner and the television -- not that there was any point, because neither one actually worked, anyway. After all that, I wanted to check out, but the clerk demanded a $5 bribe, off the books, because I was "rich and pay easy" and he had "a new boat" he needed to pay for. I gave up and resolved to check out the next day. I had to stand in the hotel for more than a half hour while they went room to room to find a (barely) working air conditioner and static-encrusted television. Starting around 6 a.m., water pipes were clanging and creaking throughout the hotel any time someone turned on a faucet. It was noisy until about 2 a.m. or so. A totally miserable experience, the worst I had in my whole trip to Vietnam. The good news is that there are nice hotels right around the corner -- don't let the obnoxious staff and endless scam attempts at this hotel ruin your trip to Hanoi.

5 Old Street Hotel -- when I think of this place, a smile comes to my face, and pleasant memories flood back. It was the third hotel I stayed in during my ten days in Hanoi and area. And my only regret is that I didn't find it sooner. Rooms are clean and cheery, facilities are more than adequate, and the location -- well, it couldn't be more perfect. Located in a beautiful part of the Old Quarter, it is within easy walking distance to the central lake, many craft shops, and an endless variety of restaurants, coffee shops, and bakeries. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the manager, Ms Pham Nga, is so helpful in assisting you to plan your stay in Hanoi and region. Not only is she helpful, but also very trustworthy, and fair. If you book with her, you know you'll be getting true value for your dollar. Believe me, I know, I got ripped off by other agents, and Ms Pham was very instrumental in helping me retrieve some of my money. I am looking forward to my return to the Old Street Hotel this winter.
