Location	The hostel is not far from the "very" center of the city. Direct buses or trolleybuses are from Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Square of Independance). Maidan Nezalezhnosti is the last stop for trolleybus/bus # 16 and 18. They stops at the corner near McDonalds. It's easy to find the stop. Go to the stop "Poltavs'ka street" (15 min.) Go back to the corner and 2 houses more back, enter the arch and follow the small road along the fence (that is US consulate) almost at the end of a fence you'll see the gate at the right hand and church somewhere far. Enter the gate. The left building is the hostel. Entrance is from the backside of the building in the corner, so go ahead along the road. Internet, fax, phone is available just across the Artema street in post ofice (9 - 21 on week days, 10-19 week-ends, the schedule can change). It's not very easy to find the hostel, it is in the yard, so follow the instructions. From the Central (Old)Terminal of the Central Railway station take bus number 181 ( 18+7) to stop "Poltavs'ka street". From Boryspil' take a bus to Kharkiv'ska metro station and ride to Lukyanivs'ka (Лук'янівська). From the escalator go to the right, go out, cross the small road and go to the street. You'll find yourself on the bus and trolleybus stop. Take number 18 or 16. The next stop is "Cinema Kyivs'ka Rus' ", and the next stop after is "Poltavs'ka street". Cross the street, you'll see an arch at the left end of a house. And follow the details mentioned above. The hostel is large enough, so they have the rooms usually. Checked by CouchSurfing :)

Extremely bad, worst hostel ever stayed in No hot water, no bar even though they claim there is on the internet, very uncomfortable beds, on the fifth floor with no working lift (very annoying!), unfriendly staff, no internet access, no lockers, really expensive (twice the price of other hostels -- awful value for money!). do not stay here! — Hayley , UK (2008-08-11)

Good and close to all amenities I was in the hostel on February for a few weeks. This hostel provides what it preys on. All their services were good. There is a hot shower at all times. But need a better cleaner, other ways it is more than a simple ok. People need to learn, to have some education and to be clean as they are the ones that dirty the place and the environment that surround them. There are many complains that the people in charge do not understand English. Miscommunication brings a lot of miss understanding and bad feelings. I was very lucky to have a better intelligent way of communication than others tourist or back packers that were there. People in charge and their personnel were very friendly courteous and considerate at all time and they did look after my affairs as their best and they did spoke English to me. The restaurant has a very good environment with typical Ukrainian music. There meals were very good and tasty. The waitress were very nice, provide a good service but, she need to smile a bit more and be more conversant. Could be because was her first week at work. — William , Australian (2008-03-31)

I visited in September 2006. The building is being improved steadily. The location is an easy trip into the downtown with public transport (tram 18 either all the way to Independence square, or back to the Green line metro stop just down the hill). An excellent restaurant is on the fourth floor of the same building, but keeps irregular hours. Internet access is a pricey 6 Grivnas for fifteen minutes at a nice computer shop at the end of the hall on the second floor of the same building, but is not so much faster than the post office on Artema street nearby, which charges 6.8 Grivnas for an hour, and gives a prorated refund if you don't use a full hour. The U.S. embassy is a block away, and behind the hostel is an Orthodox style church with lots of nuns and devout parishioners, and a very moving service. The accommodation is welcoming, clean, feels safe. You get a bed in either a two-bed room or a three-bed room. Beds are firm, modern, and hinge to allow storage underneath. The five person in these two rooms share a single bathroom. It is ok. Toilet paper goes in the trash basket, not in the bowl, due to the poor condition of plumbing, which is typical in all of the buildings in this nation.
