Kianjata Springs Campsite is a budget eco camp facility located near Nyahururu, in Nyandarua County Kenya.Three hours drive from Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya.Established in 2006, Kianjata is a pioneer hospitality and retreat facility in Nyandarua county.Nation Television Video (a prominent T V station in Kenya) featured the campsite in 2011 during their National County round ups. We are situated 1.5Kms opposite Nyandarua Institute of Science and Technology on Gilgil/Nyahururu road.The road is all weather.
Accommondation.We have six african shaped en-suite bandas made of local materials, refabricated double decker bus dormitory and spacious camping grounds for individuals and groups.Our bandas are named after some of the birds which are resident in the camp.
We offer fresh local dishes for meals. You will be taught how to make local dishes by our friendly staff during your stay with us if you so wish.
Other facilities includes a Self Catering kitchen for groups who wish to prepare own meals, Dining hall, Bonfire point,Training hall, Team building grounds, Volley pitch, Several syndicates meeting points,Children park with swings and slides,Nature trail within the camp and a 4 KM jogging path which is also used for teams running located adjacent the camp.
This area is within the high altitude climatic region (2340 masl) in Kenya which has made Nyandarua and Nyahururu famous for athletes training for both national and international competitions. Famous Champions in athletics like Kipchoge Keino, Ben Jipcho, John Ngugi, Kamau Wanjiru trained in this area and today athletes pass by our camp during their training sessions.
Attractions:
Kianjata, a local name means a place of many stars. Kianjata Water springs,resulted from a meteor that dropped in this area many years ago and dug a big hole in the wetlands of Lake Olbolossat. This is a must see Amazing Site with blue sparkling water, Visit us and enjoy trekking to this site!
Lake Olbolossat is designated as Kenya’s 61st IBA (Important Bird Area) This is due to the presence of the globally endangered grasslands sharps long crow bird-species and about 33 other bird species which can be sited at the camp and Lake Ol Bolos sat wetlands. (4×4 wheel drive vehicles needed to go at the lake).
Thomson falls located 7.5 KMs from Kianjata Springs campsite is a must visit and hippo watching at Manguo swamps.
Local agricultural farms and nearby Farmers training college offers an unforgettable interaction with local community
Subukia escarpment, an amazing site to view the great rift valley is within reach from the camp site
Kianjata Springs Campsite act as an overnight stop over for visitors and Cyclists enroute to Aberdares mountains, Mt. Kenya, Rumuruti, Samburu Maralal, Nanyuki and Laikipia areas who pass by to enjoy our local dishes. (Orders are placed in advance before arrival)
Kianjata Springs Campsite is a member of Kenya Youth Hostel Association, an affiliate of Hosteling international with hostelling networks worldwide, Eco tourism Kenya, Nature Kenya, and Kenya Museum Society amongst others.
We kindly request our visitors to plant a tree at our camp in support of our greening activities during their stay with us.
For philanthropy, visitors can visit nearby children homes or donate athletics training items of choice to Thomson Falls Sports Club which promote athletics potential in youth from poor backgrounds for poverty reduction.

• Directions to “KIANJATA SPRINGS CAMPSITE and Hostel” LOCATION - REACHING THE HOSTEL/SPORT CAMP
• You reach the hostel by road. The hostel is situated 5 km after Ol Joro Orok town coming from Nairobi and a similar distance if approaching from Nyahururu municipality along Gilgil/Nyahururu road.
• You will see our sign post opposite Nyandarua rehabilitation center then drive/walk 1 ½ km to reach us. You can also take a taxi outside Baron hotel in Nyahururu. It is a 3 hour drive from Nairobi the capital city of Kenya.
• On your way you will see the scenic beauty of the Great Rift Valley, Mt Longonot, Lake Naivasha and Lake Elementaita.
• Both lakes are RAMSAR sites.. Incase of difficulties call for directions.
