5 Cant wait to get back
We stayed at Mavi Onur Hotel for a week in the middle of Feb. 2008. The people in the hotel (two of them, Ilker, who owns the hotel and Yacine, who manages it during the evenings) are both splendid people, the likes of whom aren't the norm in the hotel trade. The rooms are decent, with air conditioning and hot water available in the bathrooms throughout the day. Breakfast is complimentary for houseguests. I would recommend the terrace for breakfast, or tea and snacks, which offers a brilliant view of the Marmara sea and the Blue Mosque. The hotel itself is located within walking distance from all that you would want to see in Istanbul. The Blue Mosque and Aya Sophya are within three hundred metres of the hotel, the Grand Bazar, and Spice Market are a bit further away, but still within walking distance. Ilker would be available during the day, and is a great help in coordinating/suggesting tours for guests. Yacine is great company whenever he is around and has gone out of his way to help me. I have spent hours talking to him after a tiring day of meandering through the streets of Istanbul. I would recommend this hotel to all for everything it has to offer. Location, people, cleanliness, view, and hospitality.

5 Wow
First off, let me just say that this was one of the best hostels we've stayed at in a long time. As experienced travelers, we have been to many hostels and the friendliness, cleanliness, and privacy offered allowed us to fully enjoy our stay in istanbul! The staff made us feel at home and knew almost everything about the city. On top of that, the three of us had our own private room and were free to do as we please. Highly recommended! breakfast is included.

5 I stayed seven days at Mavi onur hotel and really enjoyed it. The staff and also the owner are really friendly. It's very close to the main tourist area in the heart of Sulthanamet.

4 It was a great place to spend a few days in istanbul. The staff were great -- they were more than helpful with booking buses and tours. The breakfast was great and the terrace was nice. The rooms were big and fairly clean. A good place to spend a few nights in istanbul.

4 My husband and I stayed at Mavi Onur Hotel for five nights from 11th to 16th March 2007. Location is excellent, just seven minutes walk from main tourist sites, Sultanahmet Tram station, and reasonably priced restaurants. Considering the price you pay for a clean room with basic facilities, free breakfast, and excellent location, this place is a steal. Besides having a very pleasant owner, they provide you with good information about restaurants, transportation, and tourist sites. A good thing was they replied to all my queries in my emails to them weeks before my trip. Highly recommended!

4 We stayed here three nights and had a very good time -- the guy who looks after the place is very entertaining and helped us a lot. The place is nice -- quiet but only five minutes walk to the centre of Sultan Ahmet, Hagia Sophia. Has a balcony for breakfast looking out to the sea one way and over to the blue mosque on the other side. Good value for money and a nice place to stay -- would recommend it.

5 I stayed here for one week and it was just great! Near to all the most important tourist attractions the location is very good. And with the superb view on the Sea of Marmara and the Blue Mosque during the breakfast on the rooftop, every day began wonderfully! Also the rooms are very clean and nice, and the service was unforgettable, so I would recommend the hotel absolutely to erverybody!

5 I am a fifty-four-year-old woman from Canada. There are two Mavi Onur establishments with a partnership between two very honest, helpful men -- Ali and Ilker. One is a hostel and the other a hotel. Unlike many places, they are not pushy which is the norm in Istanbul. The hotel --where I stayed -- was clean, air-conditioned, had great complimentary breakfasts Turkish style, and a friendly atmosphere. If you want a home away from home, this is the place for you.

4 We stayed seven nights in this hotel with five persons (parents and three children). We had two rooms on the backsite, everything was ok, hot showers all day, airco perfect, hospitality superb, breakfast on rooftop with chocolate cake and a smile. And they can give you all the information about Istanbul.

1 I was in May Mavi Onur Hotel. A very bad, dirty, and dark place. I had no phone and satellite TV and refrigerator in my room. Nothing when you go there. You see tthe owner, he is not friendly and polite. Breakfast was poor. I never go there again.
