4 This hotel was an absolute relief (after others that I checked where no one spoke other languages than Portuguese). The location is definitely perfect, it's right on the main avenue (Avenida dos Aliados), very close to the Sao Bento train station (5 minutes walk) and a walking distance to all the attractions. It's clean and in a historical building, which adds to the atmosphere. The neighborhood is very safe, as well as the hotel itself. They "loose" one star because of the poor breakfasts: lots of cereals, but the other choice was only bread, butter and jam (no cheese or salami or eggs etc.), and coffee is not real coffee but roasted barley. The price for a single room with bathroom was 35 euros (low season), but it was worth.
