Great room and location Polite, friendly, helpful non-intrusive proprietor and staff with the bonus of no curfew. Loved the quiet location in an interesting quarter of Kyoto, close to a good coffee shop, the Goji metro station, and within easy walking distance of the main Kyoto railway station. Charming room with tatami matting and comfortable futons plus excellent en-suite facilities (twin room) all for a very reasonable cost. Definitely going back! — Dale and Peter Fogarty , Australia (2007-06-10)

I stayed two nights here and had mixed feelings about the place. On my first night I had a single room which was really nice (definitely 4 stars), but the second night I was in a four-person dorm room and we were squashed in like sardines (about 2 stars). Also the futons were ridiculously thin and pretty hard to sleep on if you are not used to it. The owner also chain-smoked in the front communal space, which I found a bit difficult. His English was also minimal, but he was friendly and helpful with suggestions and directions. It's also a little hard to find at first, but it's in a fairly good spot to reach most things. I would suggest hiring a bike and riding around — much easier than walking. It was good to use the kitchen, and the rooms/bathroom were clean. — Andrea (2005-04-19)
