This hotel is wonderful. The atmosphere is thick with history. Ancient elevators with jeweled handles transport you to a different time. Frederico Garcia Lorca once stayed there, according to the owner's daughter, also a poet. That was my first time in San Francisco, and when I go back, I hope to stay there again.

This Hotel is a home rather than just a place to spent the night. A "safe spot" for lost tourists in a big city. The warmth and kindness we found here is totally unique.
The family (original since it was built) and staff will do everything in their power to guide and help You througout Your stay in S.F.
Location is simply great. Friendly and in the middle of everything. Nice Deli next door. Laundromat within few yards. Chinatown, trolleys, nightlife etc.
Don't get fooled by the low prices, there's nothing missing. You actually get more here, than You can expect from far more expensive hotels.
And I still miss the great coffee on the mezzanine on cosy San Fransisco mornings.

This place is not cheap by hostel standards but well worth the $400 per week I paid. It has a studio-style room with a very comfy bed, TV with cable, and a mini kitchen — small fridge, microwave, utensils, and stovetop. And there was a small market next door to buy food, sodas, beer and wine. The staff are EXTREMELY friendly, there's a free DSL hook up, free morning pastries, juice, coffee, and an absolutely charming library-like lobby. GREAT PLACE!!! Have you visited this Hotel?
