Third World Countries have it better
As an Australian is is disappointing we have these places existing. The nice exterior and Lobby of this place shields a dark underbelly. I had a four room dorm, with bedbugs in three of the beds thrown in for free. The response of the management was frenzied apathy (both for the bugs and my blood on the sheets from bug bites), they couldn't give a damn. The reception staff are patronizing. I didn't expect this in the heart of Sydney! If I could give this hotel a negative rating I would.

The best hostel accommodation in Australia!
This place is fantastic. Run by the extremely NON-money grabbing community organization YWCA (but all ages and genders welcome) you will find boutique style dorm rooms (4 share) with air-conditioning, fluffy white towells and mini soaps, 5 star hotel style bedspreads on single beds (not bunks) subdued decor and a free delicious light breakfast, all at the standard backpacker Sydney rate. The location, opposite Hyde Park and on the corner of the trendy Oxford street (home to cheap eats, the Saturday morning Paddington markets etc) couldn't be more ideal. There are two lifts which will transport you up to your floor (no lugging a backpack/ suitcase up rickety steps). Highly recommended!!
