We started our Interrail trip in Paolo's Simpatia Flat and it was a beautiful beginning of a beautiful trip. Clean rooms, great kitchen and a strong toilet flush. It is located 10 minutes away from Termini station, 5 minutes from Metro and right next to the Chinese clothing stores. A supermarket (Sidis) is close to the apartment as well.
Paolo (the owner of the apartment) is a very helpful man, who cares about his guests and helps them wherever it's possible (e.g. when we came back to Rome and had no place to leave our luggage, we went to him and left it at his office). His prices are unbeatable (cheaper than Naples' camping places) and we had a great time.
We will definitely come back if we have the chance to!

If you expect a decent bathroom, don't go there. I traveled with 2 other people and took out a 3-bed room. The minute we walked into the flat, there was a very bad bathroom smell — like the one where someone who just used the potty and didn't want the smell to bother anyone, decides to spray Glade all over the place to cover it....yup, it's bad.
The concept of a 3-bed room, is:
- 1 double bed, and
- 1 single, very springy bed.... my boyfriend got a back pain after a night's sleep on it.
The private bathroom is disgusting. The stand shower is simply a rack that holds a showerhead. There are NO ENCLOSING WALLS around. So once the water is on, it's everywhere, on the wash basin, on the toilet, and ALL OVER the floor. If anyone wants to go in to use the toilet after someone showered, they better wear shoes or sandals because I'm sure nobody wants to get foot warts. The bathroom is simply a shower that includes a basin and a toilet.
There were really cheesy fake decors around the room, which I didn't appreciate, as some insect flew out of a fake flower in the room.
There's a fridge and a TV, which is a good thing, but I would rather they invest the price of the fridge and the monthly TV subscription into a cleaner bathroom, one that has a shower head with enclosing shower walls...be they curtains or solid glass.
Also, the cleaning lady doesn't speak English, so make sure you check out on time. We woke up late and the lady banged on the door, said something in Italian that included the word "polizia" in it, which freaked us out. I think she needed to clean up the place for the next group of travelers staying in that room.
As I quote from my sister who went on the trip with us, "I would rather have someone beat me to death than to stay in that place!"
If you're adventurous, please don't let me stop you from going there. After all, the price is pretty good, and it's a few minutes walk from Termini. Actually, we took 10 minutes walking there, contrary to the 5-minute walk as advertised.
Other than that, the flat host was very nice to us. But too bad that's only a small part of the price we paid for the accommodation.
