We got mugged while we were sleeping!
We were residing on the first floor. The alarm of the sliding window was removed and the window didn't lock. surprisingly we were woken up by a thief, which stole my money and debit card and searched my friend's hand bag. The manager didn't help us and initially he said that, if we would have complained to police, he would not have changed the room for the following night. No reimbursement and no apologies. That's not the way to treat customers i think!

Do not stay at this hostel
My experience at hostel palermo was horrible. We were robbed by a man who came into our room at night through the balcony. We were told that there was security consisting of a lock and an alarm but the lock did not work and the alarm was not there. The owner of the hostel did not want to help us and told us that it was our fault. He was exceptionally rude! My only advice to you all is that you should not stay at this hostel. It is unsafe, the showers do not work well, it is not particularly clean, and the staff are rude.

Very bad and unfriendly staff
The hostel is in a very good location, the rooms aren't great but so so to stay a couple of nights. The big problem in this hostal is that there is no security at all and the owner is a very rude person to deal with, not friendly at all. I was robbed in room 107 (first floor) while sleeping because someone climbed to the balcony and the window although closed had a broken lock, something that was the hostal staff responsibility to verify before my check in. The disappointment increased when reporting to the staff/owner he refused to change my room and to refund the money for the third night in case i moved to another place. It was a stressful situation with this man that refused to talk in english and was very unavailable for the situation. Finally when i asked for the complaint book he agreed to change my room for the third night. My advice is don't stay in this place where they don't worry at all with your security but only with your money.

Clean, tidy, very friendly staff. Excellent time spent at this hostal.
