Hostelz.com Guest Reviews

I was at the Savanna Lodge in April 2006 and was much impressed about the place. What made me angry was the female toilets in the western side which were not functional. I reported them to the caretaker, but that is something they must do every morning and also make sure that there is enough toilet paper provided. Tendai, the artist, always kept us busy telling us more about Zimbabwe in particular. He is such a very good guy! He took us to the timber factory and I even donated my old shoes to him! — Felicia & Brian (2006-06-01)

This picturesque hostel is situated less than a kilometer away from Victoria Falls. In the heart of Victoria Falls town but in a quiet neighbourhood the site has a large and beautiful garden where you can enjoy a dip in the well maintained pool before enjoying a well earned massage after your day of adrenaline.
Arriving from the airport they will arrange a taxi for you which costs approx $15 US. The room rates compare favourably with surrounding hostels and is definitely value for money. Spacious rooms are well presented whether they are dorms, singles or doubles. The grounds are kept in good condition and the rooms are cleaned regularly. The manager, Lynden, obviously takes pride in running a well organised and friendly staff who are always willing to go the extra mile to help accommodate guests. In a very safe area the gate is still guarded in an evening as extra security as well as having an on site safe for valuables.
The bar area is sociable and well stocked and there is ample information on hand for all the tours that can be booked. Once a week or so there is organised evenings which include learning the bongo drums and meals for all the guests. In the area you can take a trip in a helicopter over the Falls, take a walk with wild lions, or raft the toughest river in the world the Zambezi.
Reliable internet with competative rates can be found on site (approx $2 US per hour).
To summize it is a great hostel with plenty to do either at the hostel or in the surrounding area. If you like adrenaline days and relaxed evenings then this place is a must visit. Discounts can be arranged for longer stays of more than 4 days. — christopher , England (2005-11-23)
