Good value
Just stayed six nights watching England. Location is at the end of the lake and then uphill but taxis are so cheap it isn't a concern. Rooms are fairly basic but have all you require and hey the price indicates you're not in the Hilton. For value for money it's absolutely great and I would recommend the Majestic to anyone, especially traveling on a budget. Staff are friendly and will help, just ask. Enjoy your stay, we did.

Very helpful people
I just stayed three nights here and it has been the best experience during my stay in Sri Lanka. Owners are very helpful, and they provided me with very good local information. Staffs are also friendly. Even though there's some communication problem in English, they have tried their best to meet my requests. It's a bit away from town center, but it's still nice walk along the lake. You find many interesting animals on the way. If you don't want to walk, you can either take a bus/tuk-tuk. Just ask owners! They'll be happy to answer any questions you have.

Great place to stay, superb views, and very helpful staff. Good breakfast and evening meals. We had three rooms for our family and all were very clean and tidy. The price for our stay was the best we found in Sri Lanka. We will stay here again on our return to Kandy. ** Very recommended.

My friend Nikki and I were travelling the world and stopped off at Kandy for a few days after being to Hikaduwa. The Majestic guesthouse was recommended to us by a travel agent in Colombo. We found the owner Dhammike and his staff very friendly and accommodating. The guesthouse tuk tuk (an auto rickshaw) collected us from the train station, which was great for us with our heavy rucksacks (mainly toiletries may I add). Anything we wanted they obliged. We ate in the restaurant one night and had a fabulous potato curry with all the works — gorgeous it was. The breakfasts were lovely, too. One of the most stunning views we've ever seen was from our balcony in our room, out of this world it was, it was like something out of 'Heidi' (if any of you remember that). They even joined in with a game of chess with us one night, a real family atmosphere we thought. We were only there three days so didn't get chance to see a lot of Kandy, but we did visit the "Botanical Gardens, " if you are into that sort of thing (we went mainly for the exercise). I would recommend this guesthouse to anyone who is thinking of staying in Kandy. I am hoping to return there in the not too distant future.

Fairly basic room but very clean, and fantastic food and wonderful views! We were made to feel very welcome during our three days visiting Kandy.
