3 It's my first time to stay in a hostel. I was not expecting too much because the price is cheap, as I would say it as compared to hotels. The place is centrally located, very close to everything like MRT and Cairo Museum. The place is very old and the surroundings as well. I stayed there last April 2006 and the lift is not working but even if it's working i'd rather not try. I was scared or wondering if it will work because it's as old as Egypt. I took the stairs but you need to have that stamina because it's located at seventh floor. The staff are very helpful -- the guy with a curly hair in the reception area and also Solo. The hostel is ok within Egyptian standard but far less than the hostels in Europe. I would still recommend this place. I had a free airport pick-up. They offer city tours at a very reasonable prices. You can join with the group and or alone but for other tours in Egypt, I would suggest to take it from the travel agencies nearby, it will cost you less.

4 This place isn't a bad option. The rooms are pretty clean and comfortable and have air con. The bathroom is a bit old, but usually quite clean, and I found the staff to be really friendly and helpful. We were also offered dinner a couple of times, which was quite nice. They were a little pushy about organising tours, but, although we paid much more than we would have if we had done it on our own, we did have a good time and were able to see much more things than we expected. We were looked after in that respect, but just make sure you get your receipt for everything if you decide to go with them for a tour. Also, the internet is not free, even if they advertise it as free (its not expensive, but still). We were also asked to pay for our airport pickup, even though we thought it was free too. Make sure you clarify this if you want to get picked up. Apart from this I would still recommend it. It's walking distance to the Egyptian Museum as well!

4 this is a great place to stay if you can pay the extra money (not much more really). It's located in a very quiet area (quiet for cairo), exept for its very close proximity to a prayer-call speaker. The resaurant was nearly always empty and there didn't seem to be any waitstaff whatsoever, so can't say much for food. They had the typical toast/jam/boiled-egg breakfast and they reluctantly let us cook dinner in the kitchen one night. rooms were pretty light because of a light-well going thru the building. This a great place to spend your last few days after staying in some of the dumpier hotels. Oh! And it's close to a Felfela's (western style food avail.), which was a great break from the tamaaya and fuul, but a tad expensive.

5 We stayed at the Sara Inn for several nights and found the accommodations to be both enjoyable and clean. The staff were extremely helpful and were always willing to offer advice on Egypt. We booked two tour packages with them and found both experiences highly enjoyable. We would recommend this hostel to any travellers seeking a friendly atmosphere and a place to call home in Cairo.
