The hotel is ok, the rooms were decent but could have been cleaner. Hotel personnel were corteous and tried their best with english (not always successful). Shuttle pick-up service is a good thing, but to go back to the station they only provide service just after checkout time (10:10 a.m., note that public transportation exists, but does not run very frequently). The meals were ok, but the restaurant lacked any charm. The view from the japanese-style bath was very nice. The lake in front of the hotel (lake Kawaguchi) is nice but the lakefront is kind of shabby (overgrown with weeds, abandoned boats). The city of Kawaguchiko is not charming at all (like most japanese cities, I regret to say). Mt. Fuji is a magnificent sight.

We visited the Fuji area for three days in April 06, staying at Sunnide for both nights. We were completely charmed and surprised. The rooms were small but comfortable, the evening and breakfast menu (Japanese style) presented good local food reasonably priced, and there's a view of Fuji-san from the outdoor hottub! view of Fuji!
