1848 Princess Tui Inn is a Bed & Breakfast by the sea which offers complimentary tropical breakfast in a beautiful old Victorian villa. It is very traditional, therefore guests are supposed to take their shoes off when walking around in the house and the common areas are decorated with Samoan tapa cloth.
The Location
The hostel is located on Vaiala Beach, approximately a fifteen-minute walk from the city center and only a hundred meters from Palolo Deep Marine Reserve, where you can snorkel and feed fish. It is easy to find if you have a map. Coming from the airport, you should take a taxi or arrange for an airport pickup in advance with the staff. It takes about forty minutes to get there from the airport. Supermarkets and ATMs are within walking distance.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms are airy and spacious. The dorm rooms consist of six bunk beds; private rooms are available. All rooms have door locks and are decorated with flowers when you arrive. Mosquito nets are supplied. All rooms are cooled with a fan. Bathrooms and showers are very clean and there is a lot of space to change. There are hooks and shelves for your clothes and soap dishes. Hot water is always available.
Common Spaces
The common spaces include a kitchen and a dining area, a large lobby, an outside veranda, and a luggage storage. The kitchen is fully equipped and breakfast is served every morning from 7 to 9 a.m. The hostel is very social and you will definitely meet other travelers in the kitchen or the lobby. It is not a party hostel but they have a blackboard with suggestions where to go and what to do at night. Staff are very friendly and helpful; they will assist you in whatever you need. They can also arrange for guided tours of the island and all sorts of transport.
