4   Very good for a basic hotel If you want something between cheap and nasty & expensive and luxurious, Hotel Utama fits perfectly. It is not as cheap as people backpacking in the area might want at $20USD but for that i got (a private room with En suite) it was good value. It was cleaned every day, had a comfortable bed and hot water shower. If you get the right room it would have a great view of the town and lake. I was there in the low season so the atmosphere was a bit lack luster, but it has a big open common area at the entrance which im sure would be bustling during the busy season. Location is good only 5min walk down to the main strip (albeit up hill from). Security is very good. Extra points for having a van pick you up from the Bus stop! and double points for the amazing breakfast everyday!  ()
5  Hotel Utama was absolutely excellent -- The staff were so helpful and couldn't do enough to help you. Extremely comfortable rooms and kept to a high standard. Brilliant bathrooms -- Hot showers with a great pressure. Provide free coca tea, bananas, sweets and water all day long in the lobby. Excellent Internet connection -- No problems at all. Breakfast was amazing -- Pancakes, eggs, toast, fruit, yoghurt and cereal! Cannot recommend this place highly enough -- Definitely stay there and book island tours through them! This is truly a brilliant place to stay!! Thanks Hotel Utama!!  , British ()
5   Five stars for the price -- unbeatable. If this is your price range a good score. breakfast was amazing.  , Australian ()
4   A good find Utama was a nice place to stay. While the incredibly bright decor left us reeling, we had a nice room with a view of the lake and an ensuite. We had wifi in our room (although management changes the password every 24 hours which was a bit of a pain) and breakfast was lovely despite the surly service. We were picked up with little effort from the bus station which was highly appreciated, and we enjoyed the tea, fruit and candy available from the foyer. Recommended!  , New Zealand ()
