Hostelz.com Guest Reviews
This more a warning to fellow travellers than a review, but I just have to tell you about it. Terrible caravanpark! Definitely the worst park I've stayed at during my ten months in Australia! Easily one of the most depressing places I've ever been to -- this is what I would answer spontaneously if someone asked me about my opinion of the park!Public Transport is hard to get to (the nerest train station is two or three kilometers away), and the city centre of Perth is still about six to eight kilometre away. What is described as conveniently close to the airport means in reality, that you have to cope with the noise of incoming planes all night, because the park is right beneath the entry lane of the aircrafts. The park is situated in a not very charming industrial neighbourhood. There is no security at all. People tried to sell us drugs while we were staying there. A guy slammed a bicycle into a trailer and then just threw it on the street in front of the park entrance. People were constantly partying, drinking, yelling and listening to loud music at night. There were several fights. Cooking (even a bbq) facilties are nonexistent and there are just too few toilets and showers (and very filthy ones indeed). The park is maintained poorly and the lawns etc. are in a despicable condition. I think the park is not a touristpark, but a ghetto for white trash, who live there permanently, and their way of life. I would'nt recommend the park to anyone who is able to afford better accomodation and who is just the slightest bit interested in his personal safety and well-being. We intended to stay for two weeks, but left early because there was a shooting-incident in the caravanpark just next to our site (which was just next to the office/house of the caretaker). The only good thing about the park is that it is cheap (maybe two or three times as cheap as the other ones in Perth), but this still justifies by no means the state of things there! So take this as a warning and leave this so called "friendly caravanpark" to its permanent resindents, so you and they can be happy about it. — Johann Meier (2006-05-18)
