The Hostelz.com Review
Rashid and James have created a tiny paradise on this largely unspoilt patch of the Goan coastline. Dunes Holiday Village enjoys a fabulous vantage point over the quiet beach peppered only by 1-2 restaurants and a handful of old wooden fishing vessels of some character.

There's little reason to leave Dunes for anything (food, internet, laundry etc are all available) and most people come here to relax from the often over hyped tourist centres of other parts of Goa. Dunes has an excellent restaurant café and in season times they run a vegetarian salad bar, yoga and naturopathy courses. At night time there are different programs including classical Indian music and dance, Rajasthani puppet shows or just quiet background music and the sound of the waves.

Accomodation is basic but comfortable in a series ofthatched huts, teepees or rooms lining the river estuary that leads down to the waters edge. Families, couples and solo travellers all stay here.

And if you ever tire of the laid-back nature of this place among the palms stroll down the beach for 20 minutes for the more upbeat Arambol.

Hostelz.com Guest Reviews
5  I was not born in Asvem, Mandrem, but I visited the place every year of my life from 1963 to 1989. It was (and still, is I'm sure) one of the loveliest places. My grandfather Anthony Fernandes built the house in Khalpache Bhatt, just a short 50 meters from the beach, which was our summer holiday home. I fished, and swam in the little tidal inlet that lay between our home and the blue sea. I remember every coconut tree, the overgrown foliage that rose on the slight dunes which slipped onto the sand towards the inlet, my distant cousins Menino, Fatima, my friends, Louis, Dhakti-mai (who has moved on), the little chapel, and the rocky ledges. I hope to visit the place and relive some fantastic memories.  ()
