Bedbugs and lots of bits for one night I stayed here in 2009 they were rude and I had to climb around concrete blocks and they were also doing building work, woke up in the morning to find i had been attacked all night by bedbugs, I had a bucket to fill to flush the loo and no loo rolls no curtains in the room and when i complained they brought me a t towel was a big one but no way big enough to cover the window where people on the street were able to view me. glad i didnt pay for the week and left at first light. — wayne , England (2011-12-29)
Unfriendly 'If any of you have any tips on HOW we can make guests' SMILE in the future please share it with us?' This was a question asked by owners Bill & Lorna. I REPLIED ... Yes, you might try to make the STAFF smile. What a miserable bunch! Also impress on them that the TV is for the guests, not for them and their friends. Also the room was too basic even for the price and never cleaned, Bed linen was also not clean and keep the room free from cockroaches. I made friends with some of the guests and we all agreed that the staff was sullen and unfriendly. The proximity of the place to the airport was its only saving grace. In brief my stay was an experience not to be repeated. — a gannon , british (2011-09-26)

Great experience for such affordable price the place is so homey. real people are around, the staff and owners are great, helpful. the staffs even play with my 2yr old kid. the place is very accessible to malls, strolling areas, airport and transport. so great for Php1000 per night. cable tv, aircon, hold/cold shower. just great. — jed (2011-05-09)

Cheapest little home from home theres nowhere in manila including the provinces thats better and cheaper than this place. its close to airport, coastal mall, you have the bus stops outside the taxis -- all you want on a shoestring is here. im just an old soldier who knows the value of a good little hotel that tries hard to be a home from home. — pandy1la , english (2011-01-13)
No security has led to robberies and attacks. Dangerous to stay in. This place is 2 houses midway along a dark alley. Armed criminals have attacked people in the street and even in the lobby of the hotel as the owners Bill and Lorna Collings refuse to hire guards for their Villa Carolina hotel. Armed guards are found in all the hotels and boarding houses in Manila and in most other hotels outside the capital. The place is made up of 2 buildings. An annex is the most dangerous as it is far away from the main building with less people in it and no staff there. — Jed , USA (2010-01-30)

Good to chill informative and knowledgeable owners ive been to townhouse three times a year for four years. ive always been welcomed and the staff always bend over backwards to help you. i have a philippina fiancee and the staff treat her like a queen. the service is good. lots of travelers just chill. if you like to chill and have a cheap stay a good yap with other travelers and be able to have a good meal and a few red horse without the nagging this is for you. bill and lorna are a wealth of information and very approachable although both are very busy. i say try it -- if you dont like dont go back. as for me im back this christmas if theres room this time. — pandyla , england (2008-06-22)
some staff here talk bad about customers and rate customers. if you do not know tagalog or the language, you can live happily here. — kome , Japanese (2007-05-10)

I had a great stay, the staff was excellent, very friendly people. I can't wait to return for another visit. — Tom Townsend (2005-07-17)

I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else. There are two malls within a five-minute walk. The local store, which has supplies, is a one-minute walk. A taxi to nightlife spots is 100 pesos—$1.70. And it's a safe area to walk at night. Viva la villa Carolina! — Jo. (2005-04-19)

Just based on my experience, I have my satisfaction guaranteed when I stay at the Townhouse. I have been staying at the Townhouse ten times a year. I recommend it to those on a low budget for a stay in Manila at a great price you won't regret. It has excellent service, and the staff are very friendly. It's within walking distance to the nightlife, and close to the shopping mall (Robinson Mall). Enjoy your stay at the Townhouse. — epd13@hotmail.com (2005-02-25)

I always stay at this location when in I'm in Manila. I have been there so much my friends think I live there (I've stayed there about 40 times over the last five years). I find it a great place to meet interesting people from all over the world and the staff are simply great. They are very accommodating in every respect. I read that people find the hostel away from everything. I find it just the opposite. There are two shopping malls within walking distance from the townhouse. Try the beef curry, it the best I ever had anywhere in the world. — Robert Hagopian (2004-11-12)

I'm a travelor not a touron... I think this place is just fine, friendly relaxed, no luxury (and who wants it, it is not my home)! Happy pleasant ladies, singing while they work, great travel info resouces, relax, these are real people in a real world. Affordable, not far from what you need. I'm staying my first week back in the PI, while I adjust to 12 hour jet lag, and visit a little. Not some artificial box, it's homey! — Patrick Baze (2003-10-09)

The facilities are below average and it's about fifteen minutes walk to the nearest McDonalds or shopping district. There's no toilet paper and they ran out of stock so I couldn't buy it from the hostel and the nearest shopping area was so far... (it was raining badly). But, it is basically clean and cheap (180 pesoes a night). So I shouldn't complain so much. — Anonymous (2003-03-02)
