Gringo Bill’s Hotel was established in 1979 in Machupicchu Pueblo. Owners are William Kaiser from Michigan, USA and Margarita Valencia from Paucartambo, Peru just outside of the Imperial City, Cusco. Both enjoy Peru very much and offer quite, clean, and friendly hotel, restaurant, and bar services near the world wonder of Machupicchu Ruins.

Since the pioneering days of the 80’s Gringo Bill’s efforts are to welcome guest in a refreshing and relaxed
environment. Gringo Bill’s is a great place to meet people in our oasis type architectural spaces. The hotel is true
to using ecological friendly materials, local labor and environmentally conscious actions.

Location	•Gringo Bill's Hotel is a five minuet walk from the main train station. Keep in mind that we offer complementary pick-up sevice to guest with reservations. Contact us about your arrival time and train number. • The Hotel is located hidden behind the new municipal building on the main plaza just 20 meters left of the Church. I like to think Gringo Bill's Hotel as a hidden oasis in the caiotic urban fabric of the town. • Our address is Gringo Bill's Boutique Hotel Calle Colla Raimy 104, MAchupicchu Pueblo, Cusco-Peru. • Town Geography and Trains: • -The town of Machupicchu is surrounded by the high mountains in the upper Amazon Tropical forest at 6,627 feet (2100mt) above sea level. • The town has geothermal capacities that host several hot springs in the region but nothing else. This somewhat isolated town is only reached by train or by foot. Alternate means of transportation into Aguas Calientes are slim. We recommend visiting www.perurail.com or www.inkarail.com for train schedules. • Departures are made from four different train stations in the Cusco region, 1, Cusco 2,Ollantaytambo 3, Poroy 4, Santa Teresa (hydroelectrica) • Buses and Tickets: • Buses start their daily route at 5:30am and leave consecitively as soon as a bus fills up. Tickets for Machupicchu and the buses can be purched in-town inadvanced at the ticket offices showed in the map. Last bus down is at around 5:30pm but if you plan on missing the bus a small foot trail will also get you down to Aguas Calientes and your clean and comfortable shower and bed.

The reason this is a 3 star and not better is that it is not set up to be a 5 star hotel. That is not their goal. However, this is a wonderful Hostal, frequented by backpackers primarily, and is a perfect site to make as your base for exploring the area in depth. The staff/owners are friendly and helpful, the breakfasts were excellent, and the location is terrific. We had a most amazing stay here, in a room with a balcony overlooking the main square in town, with an incredible vista of soaring mountains surrounding us.
