The Hostelz.com Review
Some would call Le Village Guesthouse a hippie guesthouse, and while this may describe its atmosphere and ambiance, it has a lot of different guests and it's welcoming to anyone. It's probably one of the cheapest places to stay in the city center, and facilities and standards match the price, but the place has great atmosphere with its old carpets, modern paintings, handwritten signs, and cozy communal areas. The staff are super friendly, and you'll soon feel like part of a family.

The Location

Le Village is right in the old city center between Chinatown and Little India, just a hundred meters from the northern entrance to the covered Chinatown market (Petaling Street). It's a five-minute walk to Masjid Jamek station (LRT), and Plaza Rakyat station. It's also just five minutes from the airport buses at Maybank Building, and the bus terminal Puduraya. Local buses for a lot of destinations leave just outside the entrance of the guesthouse.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Rooms (singles, doubles, twins, and triples) and dorms (two or three beds) are basic with just beds and fans and some light. Some of the rooms can be twins one night and a two-bed dorm the next. Rules are flexible. All rooms have shared bathrooms on the same floor. They may not look super clean but are taken care of daily. Sheets and towels are available for free upon request. Some rooms near the communal areas can suffer from noise from late night gatherings or early breakfast conversations.

Common Spaces

On the first floor, there are tables and chairs, a sofa, a hanging chair, plenty of paintings, and the reception itself. The second floor has an area with a TV, a DVD player, and sofas. On the third floor (covered rooftop) there are mattresses on the floor, guitars, small tables, and fans for late night gatherings or chilling in the hot afternoons.

Summary

This is a very cozy place for the people who don't mind interaction with other guests and the friendly staff. It's a place to meet other backpackers, expats, locals, and that guy you met three months ago in Goa, India.

Their Description
Le Village Kuala Lumpur is a hostel located in the heart of Chinatown. A colonial terrace building of three stories, it houses dorm and private rooms. The many lounges, hanging chairs and chill-out areas, make for a seemingly comfortable and relaxing place to stay in amongst the hustle and bustle of the city. It has an easy-going and welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy for travelers to extend their stay.

Set in a great location, Le Village Guesthouse is within a two minute walk from Petaling street and around the corner from the train station and Central Market, so visitors aren’t short on things to do! You can take a walk through Chinatown’s famous Petaling Shopping street, see the beautifully lit-up Petronas Towers at night, get lost within the Little India Markets or feast on Roti Canai and tea Tarik!
