The Hostelz.com Review
Plus Camping Michelangelo is a blend of budget and luxury -- budget with the amount one has to spend to stay there and luxury when it comes to the amazing facilities that it has to offer. You get such a beautiful view of old Florence here. You can start planning your walk around this little artistic city with the help of the friendly managers at reception, who will provide you with a map. The managers will also help you with bookings for major museums such as Galleria Dell Academia and Uffizi Gallery.

The little house tents they offer couples are cozy and comfortable. The vast lush areas in Camping Michelangelo allow you to pitch your own tent at a really nominal cost. The accommodation, however, comes with some drawbacks -- you will not find any light in the tent at night, as there is no electricity. You have to grope in the dark for everything, so go well prepared with a flashlight.

With facilities like an internet cafe, a supermarket, a pizzeria/bar, and public showers, this place is great for a budget traveler. Everything tends to be a bit crowded at times, so being the early bird does pay. Camping Michelangelo also attracts a potpourri of travelers from all over the world, making it an excellent place to make new friends. It is very easy getting to Camping Michelangelo by Bus No. 12 and 13.

4  Great for the money! For the price of this campsite, it was great! It's warm in the tents during the day but it got nice and cool at night. The tents were clean and we were able to lock them. The showers are outdoors, but they are really big! Just don't eat at the snack bar -- the food is terrible and overpriced.  , USA ()
4  Best location in Florence view wise. We had one of the hire tents and could open up the door in the morning with a view over the top of Florence. It is right next to Piazza Michelangelo. Very clean (but take your own toilet paper). No kitchen, but there are frozen meals available and a shop on site. Very good bar area and very social. (Was the most social out of the Plus Camping Sites that we stayed at). The tents had two cots and blankets, nothing else, but what do you expect when you are paying not much. Had a better backpacker feel to it than a lot of hostels. There were plenty of backpackers staying there.  ()
4  I quite enjoyed this campsite. It's not as big as the one in Rome so you get to know a lot of the guests. It has pretty much everything you need, with an awesome view! Washrooms are so-so. Heads up, there are a lot of families camping there so mind your p's and q's!  ()
4  This is a very popular and social campsite. The location is great. The toilet facilities are reasonable but sometimes you get long queues. The bar/restaurant area is very popular. The ground for camping is very hard and somewhat dusty but you can forgive them for their location and ease of access to town/train station.  ()
3  Pros: + Near the city, which is easy to reach (buses 12 & 13) + Quiet and nice (for those who don't like loud music) + Very friendly staff + Nice view of the whole of Florence + Free hot showers + Free ride with camping car to your spot Cons: - No toilet paper in the toilets - Toilets aren't very clean This is a nice camping site if you have your own tent. (There's plenty of space, in contrast to other Plus Camping sites.)  ()
2  This campsite was the poorest of several we stayed at in Italy. The location is wonderful and the price is right but the tents are tiny, smelly and not correctly sealed. They are basically four poles with a sheet over it and there are large gaps all around the bottom, meaning loads of insects and any other creatures that fancy crawling in! I've never had so many mosquito bites in my life. On the upside, the staff were very helpful and pleasant and the bar had a lovely atmosphere, if it was a little over-priced. The toilets and showers were fine if a little far away. Oh, and remember to bring your own toilet paper, it's not supplied.  ()
4  This campsite was good, the price was right (it was the cheapest bed we found in Italy), and the bar had a great view and nice café lattés. The hostel is a good walk from town, but it was a very nice way to see Florence. We stayed in a tent with two cots in it. The only problem was that it was pretty cold. I wouldn't recommend staying here any time after autumn (we stayed in October, and it was cold), but you can get extra blankets if you ask. Recommended.  ()
4  Nice place! It's a little bit far from the city, but the walk is through Piazza Michelangelo, which gives you a wonderful view of the city. There are also real beds. The campground is clean.  ()
2  Very basic campsite, no pool, just a bar where they charge you too much for everything, and they even try to make you pay for A paper plate. Go prepared with your own everything, even toilet paper. It's in a good location though. You can walk 10 minutes to a great view and from there 30 to the city. It's a nice walk.  ()
3  This is actually a really nice place to stay with an astounding view of the city. It doesn't do much more than offer you a place to stay at night, but that's all you need in Florence. House tents are boiling during the day but, yet again, you won't be there then. One drawback is that they don't let you pay till the end of your stay. They also insist on keeping a form of ID so make sure you bring something other than your passport - especially if you're from the EU, because you'll need ID to get discounts at the famous attractions the city has to offer.  ()
3  After staying at four of the Camping Plus Villages in Italy, we found this to be the poorest. The house tents were fine, if a bit cramped, but we were only here for two nights so it didn't really matter much. It's easy to find, and there is a bus to it from the train station. It offers great views of Florence. The little shop is pretty cool, and its items are fairly priced. The main reason this got three stars is because there was only one "lot" of toilets, and they were on the other side of the campsite from us. So there's no waiting till the last minute to go to the toilet--you will have to run otherwise!! That's not good when you first wake up in the morning. ;) There were also not enough normal toilets, and too many "holes in the ground." Bring your own toilet paper!! The showers were a bit dingy, and small as well. It was cheap enough, and the view can't be beat, but I doubt I would go back here.  ()
4  Me and my girlfriend found this campsite great, although it was hard to find. The price is good and the panoramic view is excellent. We went there during 1999. We hope that they improved the showers but overall it's ok.  ()
4  I'm so glad I found this campsite. It's just perfect for backpackers. My friend and I stayed in the little tents that are already set up and have beds in them. We're both teenage girls and felt incredibly safe. Only problem was that the toilets were far away so wee before you go to bed or you'll get lost looking for them in the middle of the night; I did. The way the showers are designed (there's just no space) people are probably going to see you naked. Apart from that, I highly recommend it. Great location, friendly staff, and safe.  ()
4  This campsite offers all the facilities you might need even though they've got some strange 'toilets' and in some shower cabins it's hard to keep your clothes and toiletries dry. Overall it's clean, prices are reasonable and there's a busstop right in front of the campsite. The housetents can be locked but as they're equipped with 2 beds there's not much space to put your bags. Location is quiet, outside the city but some road noise is inevitable. In general it's a good, cheap place to stay and I'd definitely go back.  ()
