The Hostelz.com Review
The quaint, friendly El Mirador del Inka Bed & Breakfast overlooks the beautiful city of Cusco, nestled in the heart of its happening nightlife scene. It is built on Inca foundations along a cobbled lane that looks like it has remained the same for five hundred years; the rooms are steeped in character to match that of the lovely owner.
Location
El Mirador is nestled on a side-street in the hip and trendy area of San Blas, a few minutes' walk from a host of bars, restaurants, and artisanal shops. It is located uphill of the main square, a strenuous ten-minute walk up a steep slope, but worth the climb for the stunning views overlooking the city.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The is a large selection of comfortable and spacious furnished rooms -- matrimonials, singles, doubles, and dorms. Some of the doubles are en-suite, but the majority have a shared bathroom accessed from outside, which can be a bit chilly at night. The shower is good and hot. Bathroom is spacious and clean, but at the time of our visit there was no lock on the door.
Common Spaces
The rooms are centered around a large courtyard with hammocks and tables. There is a lounge area with cable TV, DVD, internet, and telephone. The hotel has a book exchange and tourist information.
Summary
The hostel is friendly and welcoming and the rooms are large and clean, if a little basic. This hostel is good value for money, has a good location, and overall is a good choice for backpackers on a budget.
