5 Had a great time at Le Régent Montmartre. The staff was great and very helpful. It is very close to the Metro station, Moulin Rouge, and the Sacre Cour. The breakfast was included and it was very good. Very comfortable and clean rooms and bathrooms. I really can't complain about anything. Whenever I go back to Paris this is where I'm going to stay.

5 We really enjoyed staying here! All of the staff we talked to were very nice and helpful. They were very willing to look up information, make reservations, and give excellent directions. The location is great -- right near great shops and sights. There is a nice grocery store down the street if you need to pick up a few things. The breakfast was not free while we were there, so I'm not sure why it is listed as included above. All in all great experience!

4 It sounds like this hotel may be hit or miss, but my boyfriend and I had a good experience staying here in a shared double in May, 2005. The double we got was pretty tiny if you're used to bigger hotels...and the shared bathroom and showers were also pretty small. But everything was clean and safe. The location was excellent and we had a wonderful view of Sacre Coere from our window/balcony. It was a nice break from the hostels we stayed at and they gave us the room for €55 with breakfast. It may help to ask about off-season prices or specials because our room was listed at a higher price.

2 Le Regent offered me a clean room of my own, with new sheets and towels daily. My experience with the breakfasts was quite good — though they charge an arm and a leg (six euros). This was worlds better than any youth hostel, but that's where the good time ends. As of February 2005, Le Regent is still under renovation. I had to endure the smell of paint and walk over splattered cardboard and drop cloths to get to the one freezing bathroom nearest my room. The shower, though thankfully warm, was a mere dribble of water and I got cleaner using the sink in my room (which was good). Worst of all — do NOT use the phones in your room to call abroad. Le Regent is part of a tourist scam, though if they know it or not, I don't know. International calls made from those phones are billed from an unnamed place in California with the number 1-800-576-2118. You will be charged a $14.95 US connection fee and about $5/minute after that! These phones are in every room with official-looking signs explaining how to use them — I can't but imagine that the hotel is on this hoax. My enjoyable stay in Paris is now sadly overshadowed by the monumental phone bill ($330) left from a few calls from the wretched Regent Montmartre. 3 The staff were pleasant and very accommodating. The rooms were clean but basic. The breakfast was lovely and you can bring food into the hotel.

4 I had a clean room, remote control TV, a great bathroom, etc. It was much better than I would have expected. I should have made all my Paris bookings here.

1 They are advertising a "special" offer at E70/night, breakfast included. What they forget to tell you is that they are refurbishing the hotel. The carpets are torn and filthy with paint, the staircase is filthy, and it stinks of paint all over the place to the point where it feels dangerous to sleep in some of the rooms. The free breakfast is a joke. The breakfast room barely fits 30 people for a hotel with more than double that capacity, which means you have to queue up for a seat while your coffee gets cold. They run out of everything well before breakfast is over, and they allocate one piece of bread and one croissant per person. Don't dare ask for a second one! Conclusion: stay well clear of this hole.

4 The hotel was very charming and in a great location, VERY close to the metro with lots of places to eat nearby and the Sacre Coeur right up the hill. The staff were mostly friendly, and all spoke English. Our room was adorable, and well worth the money.
