Richmond Vale Hiking and Nature Centre is a down-to-earth place in the middle of St. Vincent’s magnificent nature. Enjoy the simple pleasures of seductive tranquillity, sustainable lifestyle and lots of warm smiles. Soak up new energy and immerse yourself in nature and relaxation.
Richmond Vale is divided between our nature and hiking centre and an academy, living as a community and working to be as sustainable and self sufficient as possible. Volunteers at the academy are trained to go on development programs in St. Vincent as well as in Africa and Middle and South America. Your stay helps to fund this program and guests are welcome to socialise with the volunteers and receive a firsthand look at their humanitarian efforts.
Our rooms are very basic; each one includes a fan, shelves and one-to-four beds. There are male and female showers and a communal kitchen down the corridor.
Wi-Fi is available in the community hall and guests are welcome to use the fitness centre. Massages can be arranged.
If you don’t feel like cooking you can eat with us for just $15 USD per day/person. We can provide you with three delicious, local-style meals which we make mostly from things we grow in our organic garden or buy from local suppliers.
We offer an unforgettable hike up La Soufriere Volcano with our local guide who will also take you down into the crater. There are also shorter hikes to our double waterfalls at Dark View and on nature trails through the jungle.
We offer Horse training courses (Carolyn Resnick Method) where you can learn about horsemanship. You can come as a working student for 2 - 6 months or just for a Horse Vacation from 1 - 4 weeks.
We welcome all ages, including children! Please come and join our community for a while.
The nearest village is Chateaubelair. There you can find some restaurants, shops and post office, a hospital and doctor and of course another beautiful beach.
Be aware that we are a basic equipped place in an unspoilt and as a result remote area. If you are looking for the amenities of a 5 star hotel this is definitely not the right place for you! If you want to emerge yourself in nature and yourself this is your Utopia!

Payment is due upon arrival in cash only please, there is no cash machine in Chateaubelair. Breakfast is not included.

Location
• To St. Vincent by air you will take an international flight to Barbados, Trinidad, St. Lucia, Martinique or Puerto Rico, from there you can take a flight with LIAT to St.Vincent airport - SVD
• From the Airport/Kingstown to Richmond Vale:
• -TAXI (1,5-2h)
• You can take a taxi at the airport for 180 EC (Eastern Caribbean Dollars) approx. 75 USD, If you arrive after 12am it will probably be a little more. You will need to pay with cash, there is an ATM in the airport or you will pass several on the journey and your driver can stop.
• -PUBLIC TRANSPORT (for the more adventurous ones!)
• This is by local mini vans, there is no schedule but the run regularly until 6pm, most are decorated in colourful designs and logos. Don't worry about recognising them as they will stop if they have space.
• From the airport walk to your right up to the main road and a few steps along there you will see a bus stop with bench. All the vans that pass will be going to Kingstown and you will be going to the end of the route so don't worry about where to get out. It will cost 1.50EC (cash only)Just find a seat and enjoy the ride!
• You will stop at the Windward bus station and will then need to walk to the Leeward Station through the vegetable market. You can ask for directions, say you need a van to Chateaubelair and anyone will be able to direct you. It is about a 5 minute walk.
• When you get to the Leeward station tell a driver you are looking for a van to Chateaubelair and they will tell you where to wait. Vans arrive regularly and depart when full.
• This journey is longer taking about 1hr30 and will cost 6EC. When you get to the last stop you can ask the driver to continue on to Richmond Vale which they are usually happy to do for 4EC more.
• Alternatively you can walk to Richmond Vale which will take approx. 45mins following the road. You will cross 2 bridges and eventually come to a large low building where you will see our sign, turn right up the hill and we are at the top.
