Unique Seafront Bohemian Boathouse Reviews

Description

CHARMING SEA FRONT APARTMENT WITH PANORAMIC VIEW

From an old boathouse a characteristic charming marine style apartment!
Casa Laudicina opens out on the balcony with the most spectacular panoramic view of the old port of Castellammare del Golfo, where the Castle rises, at the foot of a high and rugged mountain that goes down slowly to the sea.

The apartment is truly unique: an old boathouse restored in a characteristic charming marine style that recover all its primitive beauty and offer today a comforting and warm place.

As the result of the passion for the sea and the naval design, the internal place respect the aesthetic values of the past like the rustic rooms with wide wooden rafters.

Traditional materials are adapted with creativity to the rythms of contemporary life: there’s a vintage fishing boat in the living room adapted to table

!The assortment of complements that fully furnish the apartment creates an individual style, a contrast by mixing up different traditional marine themes.

Anchors, fish nets, barometers, corals, buoys, signal flags, vintage prints, old lamps, sandstone, shell fish and seashell…it looks like a maritime museum!

The beautiful view, the cozy and original interior makes it a perfect choice to spend your time: colors, images and suggestions of the sea that create a relaxing, magic atmosphere!

Ideal for 4 guests, there’s one bathroom with shower and one bedroom with bunk bed and single bed, with comfortable wardrobes.

The spacious living area is a living room with sea view balcony and a kitchenette in stone with characteristic majolica and well equipped. In the living room, a staircase leads to a loft with double bed.

****Please note that we are located in the picturesque port, the very center of Castellammare del Golfo, which means nightlife as well. FROM THE MONTH OF MAY TO SEPTEMBER YOU'LL IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE SUMMER NIGHTLIFE OF THE TOWN. During summer nights, you might hear some noise from the streets downstairs, as there are restaurants, night clubs, pubs and bars****

NEWS!! We have the pleasure to announce that Casa Laudicina is now the Italian branch of the Laboratoire de la Création, a prestigious international network of ART residencies and creative venues (Barcelona, Brussell, Berlin, Paris, Mazette-Sarthe, Sicily) www.laboratoiredelacreation.org

• Castellammare del Golfo
• Castellammare del Golfo is a small romantic fishing town away from the main tourist routes. Set in the beautiful gulf of Castellammare, at the foot of a high rugged mountain sloping gently down towards the sea as far as the little peninsula on which there stands the arabic-norman castle (Castello), though the headland must been a fortified site for much longer.
• There are still small working fishing boats in Castellammare, and you may see fishermen mending their nets on board, or selling the day's catch at rickety tables on the quayside, while cats prowl along searching for scraps.
• Boats can be hired from the marina or there are boat excursions that leave from the harbour during high season. There are lovely walks around the town center as well as several churches, a local park with panoramic views & of course the Castle itself. The town is also an ideal location from which to explore the charming cultural treasures of Sicily.
• Coast/Beach
• Cala Marina is 30 meters from the apartment: you just go out and you are on the beach!
• The main beach of Castellammare del Golfo is only 5/10 mins by car. During the summer months there are numerous beach bars with sunbathing facilities, pedalos, baby areas etc…
• There are also several other beaches, offering more tranquillity and the option of scuba diving.
• In about 10 minutes you can reach the famous seaside resort of Guidaloca, with its turquoise sea and it’s terrific landscapes.
• The maritime village of Scopello (15 min) is a natural paradise, small but rich of traditions. A place able to preserve itself as time goes by: few houses, the courtyard, a church, the Faraglioni and the Tonnara. The tonnara is one of the most ancient of the island, not used anymore, is the proof of a former flourishing activity. It evokes the charme of an abandoned place and the silence that surrounds it, is interrupted only by the sound of the waves. The buildings of the slaughterhouse “mattanza”, the stock house where the tuna was stored and the anchors used for the fishing nets are still visible.
• There's also the nature reserve of Zingaro (15 min): has a coast 7 kilometres long that is beautiful and uncontaminated and overlooks the gulf of Castellammare and the mountains, enriched by the small bays and the evocative vertical cliffs. Important for the wide variety of rare and endemic plants, the Zingaro is also important for the fauna: in fact the existence of small ecological paradises allows a fauna variety that doesn’t exist in other parts of the island. The area is also of archaeological importance thanks to the spectacular cave, “grotta dell’Uzzo” where there was one of the first prehistoric settlements of the island. Walkers paradise & excellent opportunities for scuba diving whether you are professional or it's your first time.
• The village of San Vito Lo Capo is a renowned bathing resort, especially famous for its enchanting beach: crystal water with the colours of turquoise, green and intense blue.
• Surroundigs
• Segesta: Mythological destination highly recommended, with its Punic temple in Doric style built outside the city walls at the end of the Vth century B.C. but also important for the theatre that overlooks the sea.
• Erice: small Medieval village with its castle, the fascinating churches and a breathtaking view at the “Belvedere”, the Punic fortifications, the castle of Venere, the Medieval historical centre…but let's not forget the typical almonds desserts!
• Trapani: a fishing and ferry port with a long history. Trapani was an important town throughout the Middle Ages, and it is the medieval phase of the town's past which is most evident in the old town. It is possible to see numerous dazzlingly white mountains shimmering in the sun: these are hills of Trapani’s salt-mills, an evocative and unreal scenario.
• Egadi Islands: Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo, pearls of the Mediterranean area, of an undeniable beauty, with natural caves that overlook the cobalt blue sea, but also remainings of prehistorically civilizations and famous for the “Mattanza” (traditional fishing of tunas).
• Marsala - Mothia: Marsala is famous for the sweet wine, but also for the isle of Mothia and the Salinas with wind mills. The Isle of Mothia is a Punic site where the Phoenicians stopped in the VIIIth century B.C. before settling in Sicily. The island is connected to land thanks to a small undersea tunnel.
• Palermo: the Capital of Sicily, is a melting pot of many different cultures that throughout the years have been conquering the island and the city, loving it, fighting for it and leaving strong traditions that still coexist today. One of the richest towns in the island for history and art: the Cathedral, the “Palatina” Chapel, the “Quattro Canti”, the Pretoria Square, the Martorana Church and of course the traditional markets of “Ballaro’” and “Vucciria” where delight the palate with local vegetables, fruits and typical “panelle”and “arancine”.
