• From San José
• Take the Pan American Highway north. At 20 km you will pass the exit to Puntarenas and you will find a gas station and a turn off for Sardinal and Monteverde, Santa Elena. Follow the paved road until you get to the town of "Guacimal", from there you have another 20 km of gravel road to get to Monteverde. The whole trip should take you between 3.5 to 4 hours.

• Take the Pan American Highway south. Exit in the town of Cañas and take the road from Cañas to Tilarán. Once there, you will cross the city (1 km) and find the sign to Monteverde. Anyone you ask will point you in the right direction. Follow the gravel road to Monteverde, about 45km. The whole trip will take 3 hours.
• From La Fortuna
• Take the road to Tilarán. Once there, you will cross the city (1 km) and find the sign for Monteverde. Follow the gravel road to Monteverde, about 45km.
