• If coming from San Jose, the Alfaro bus company offers daily service from San Jose to Playa Tamarindo at 3:30 p.m. for approximately $10. The Alfaro bus station is at Barrio Mexico in Coca Cola Terminal.
• The bus ride to Tamarindo makes several stops and takes approximately 6 hours. As this is a public service, reservations are not available and you must purchase your ticket personally as early as possible. If you decide to use this service please keep your belongings close to you and in your sight at all times as this is not the safest way to travel. We highly recommend using a private bus company especially for novice travelers. Private bus companies have nicer vehicles, hold less people, are equipped with air conditioning and take about 5 hours to get to Tamarindo. This is a much safer and more comfortable way to get here. Please contact us via phone or email for more information or if you would like us to make you a reservation. Our contact details are in your confirmation email. The private bus cost around US $39 per person and departs near the San Jose airport at 7:30am, 8:00am, 14:00, 14:30, 15:30 and 21:30. Free shuttles will take you from the airport to the private bus pickup point. Make sure that you change money when you arrive but use the station after customs and not before because the exchange rates are different.
• From the airport in Liberia, you can take a public bus or taxi which will get you here in about an hour. Taxis cost around $40 but they will ask for $80 so make sure you haggle.
• From the airport in Tamarindo take a taxi which should cost around US $5.
• We are 200 meters East of the Tamarindo/Langosta intersection. Stay to the left and we are on the right hand side after Hertz.
