Visited mostly by summer sun-seekers from Buenos Aires, the hostel is far from crowded on the off-season and never overrun with tourists, so it's got a much more traditional flavor.
Getting There
Most everyone arrives by the ferry. A building from late XIX Century, which conserves its original architecture with big bedrooms that take us to a typical atmosphere of the time of silence, politeness and quietness. The hostel account the doble room private and withouth bathroom, dorms the 4 people withouth batroom, dorms the 6 and 8 people private bathroom. Ok, the country does not have many sites that would make the top 5 on the continent, but it is definitely worth a visit. From Buenos Aires (Argentina) there are buses and fast ferries to both Colonia and Montevideo. Colonia is a very small but lovely city of 30.000 and is officially called Colonia del Sacramento and worth the hop across the Rio Plata from the Argentinean capital.
