Newport Hostels

Newport, Oregon is a fantastic coastal town with cool temperatures and friendly people. Anyone with an interest in the ocean or marine life should visit this city! The major water features are Yaquina Bay and, of course, the Pacific Ocean.

When you visit a Newport hostel, one of the most popular tourist attractions is the Oregon Coast Aquarium, where Keiko the Orca (the star of Free Willy) lived before being shipped to Iceland. Even though you can no longer see Keiko, there are still plenty of fascinating exhibits, such as the aviary, and the acrylic tunnel.

Another attraction with a marine science theme that you can visit is the Hatfield Marine Science Center, a research facility run by Oregon State University. While there you can interact with octopuses, starfish, and real marine scientists. If science doesn’t interest you, there are plenty of opportunities in and near Newport to boat, take a scenic drive, and walk along the beach.
