5min from Lauterbrunnen away, next to the Skislope !Our restaurant offers traditional Swiss kitchen with some long forgotten recopies. We love to surprise our guests with homemade bread and sausages and many other specialties on our small but neat, daily changing menu. We serve our dishes in large bowls so everybody can help themselves to make sure you get enough! Our prices are all you can eat! Of course we also serve 'a la carte' menus with fixed platters. Our guest house convinces...
"A hostel lost in the middle of the Swiss Alps, Gimmelwald lies at the end of the Lauterbrunnen valley under the foot of the massive Schilthorn towering 2970 metres. The mountain hostel offers consoling conversation after a day of serenity in the Alps. Groceries, beer, wine, pizza, kitchen, a pool table, internet, and laundry facilities make the Mountain Hostel a place you can call home. There is pretty much nothing in Gimmelwald, but the much larger city above is Murren and offers a...

Gimmelwald Travel Tips & Suggestions

Gimmelwald is pretty nice -- you need to get up there if you stop make the trip to Interlaken. Take a hike or two (I recommend up to the Schilthorn if you have a clear day). If you want to stay in the mountains check out Murren, the next town over, or stay in Interlaken (avoid the hostel on the mountain).

The town is way overcrowded now.

Don't stop at Interlaken -- keep going to Grimmelwald. It is so beautiful up here, you are really in the Alps. It a great place to stay and do hikes from here. I would say it is expensive since Switzerland is expensive overall. If you have to go to one place in Switzerland go to Grimmelwald!

I have been to many beautiful places on different continents, but none matched this location for stunning scenery. I can't imagine ever topping this locale. Very inexpensive to boot.

Gimmelwald is heaven on earth...and then some. My husband and I went in Oct. 04 and stayed for three days. The scenery is spectacular. A quiet little village perced on the end of a cliff high in the Alps. Peaceful...nothing but the sound of tinkering cowbells. Gimmelwald is a place you will never forget once you travel there. I guarantee you that no matter where you travel on this earth...Gimmelwald you will never forget and will always yearn to return.

Amazing scenery. Peaceful, beautiful. Simply jaw-dropping wherever you turn. You could stand in the same place for days, marvelling at your surroundings, it is that beautiful. Word of advice: if you hike the Schilthorn, make sure you get there BEFORE the last cable car down (6:00pm), because its a looong way back.

The "moutain view walk" from Lauterbrunnen to Gimmelwald is the most spectacular I have ever done. It takes about 6 hours but there are amazing views of the the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau all the way. If there's one thing I would recommed anyone visiting Europe to do, it would be this hike.

Gimmelwald is exactly as you think Switzerland should be -- goats and cows meandering through wild flowers, waterfalls and breathtaking vistas every way you turn. If you like to hike, this is the place for you!

Gimmelwald is the one of the most charming, peaceful, beautiful places on this planet! The people are equally as amazing.
