Toledo Hostels

Toledo is known for being a city stuck in time, with the medieval elements of the city well preserved and obvious no matter where you go. The city is located on a rock surrounded by the Tagus river. It is located about an hour south of Madrid with frequent trains connecting the two cities.

Although many people overlook Toledo during their stay in Spain, those who have seen the city claim it is an unmissable sight. You can visit one of the many museums or exhibitions, but most travelers are content just to wander the streets and get lost within its twisting, narrow passageways. Due to the layout of the city, you do not need to worry about getting overly lost, as you will run into the river or a wall when you get to the boundary.

It is not hard to find a Toledo hostel. Do not get a hostel near the train station as it is located outside of town, along a road with little shade or stops. Although it is not an overly grueling walk, it's not one that you will be excited to repeat over and over again. Instead take advantage of one of the many that reside within the cities walls. There is also a castle located just across the Tagus river with a very old bridge connecting it. The castle has been home to a youth hostel for over a decade, and is strongly recommended as long as it is open.
