"This hostel, also known as Elvis Hostel, is a bit more aged and worn than its competitor, the Rolling Stone Hostel. We stayed at both and can say what they lack in newness, they make up for in good atmosphere and lack of pushiness. The staff are young and very friendly and happy to share with you any advice for seeing the area. Tours are available, but they don't push them on you at all. The rooms are standard hostel rooms with lots of beds, and they are a bit crowded. The ratio of...

"This hostel is newly renovated and newly opened with amazingly tiled bathrooms and a very comfortable sitting room and dining room. There aren't a huge number of bathrroms, and there may often be a wait, but that's the way it goes with the hostels sometimes. The beds are bunk beds, but the rooms are pretty big. Large lockers are provided for free. There is a small kitchen to use, though it could use a sharp knife or two. There was an advertised free breakfast, but nobody went out to...

Dracula's castle sucks. I was expecting something much more exciting, but in the end it's just a normal castle. Other than that, all is fine.

Brasov is a very nice city but if you are really an winter sports fan or even addict, you might wanna try Prahova Valley resorts such as Sinaia- with Peles Royal Castle and sports-oriented Predeal with a good sky-run and quad-bikes at your disposal. You can find a lot of people there with general english, french, spanish speaking skills. And beware of the vilas, lodges behind the main church- they don't provide reliable info on their actual accomodations. Try those near the sky run.

Brasov is just fantastic. A town with charm and much flair. The people are (like many Romanians) are very hospitable, nice and helpful. Explore Sinaia (Peles castle), Rasnov, the fortified churches of Prejmer and Harman. And if possible don't miss Sighisoara, the medieval town two hours from Brasov. It's great there. Or just stay in Brasov. I myself could stay there forever!

This is a city with many hidden charms. Stay longer than a few days if you properly want to get to know the place. There are certain bars frequented by English speakers in the city so stick to them if you want some company (Deanes and Maya are the main two). And don't forget to spend at least a day hiking in the hills around the city. Also, avoid Bran/Dracula's castle - it's very disappointing. Stick to Rasnov castle instead. Its closer and much more interesting.
