"Rising Cock Youth Hostel is a really great place to stay -- as long as you can get the room you asked for. The owners of this hostel are really nice and wonderful people, which means they let people stay for more nights than they originally planned (and since the hostel is really great, many people want to stay longer). The problem with this is that they don´t take into account overbooking,...
"A very good hostel. Clean, great staff, good breakfast (and cheap!). Nice people live there! I stayed at Pousada da Juventude de Lagos for two weeks, and I had the best time! And I will be back next year, but for a longer time!" … "I stayed here for a week in August - was really cool, as I was travelling alone at that time I met tons of people in this hostel. Only small complaint are...
"I was there at the end of June 2005 and I had a great time there. The owners make everyone feel like they're at home and they arrange barbecues and other fun. The atmosphere is great and all the guests hang out with each over on the roof terrace in the evenings. I met some really nice people there. No doubt it's the best hostel in Portugal. You have to go there!! And to Carlos and Arthur,...

Lagos is amazing. A friend and I were supposed to stay in Lagos for maybe three or four days and ended up staying for the rest of our trip in Portugal. You just don't want to leave because it is tons of fun. The beaches are gorgeous. You can take a boat ride to the grottoes and swim inside the caves. You also have a great nightlife with tons of fun people! So if you are traveling to Lagos, make sure it's the last place you're going to visit because you will not want to leave!

This place is amazing. I went for three days and ended up staying for two weeks. Stay at the Rising Cock or the Camel Toe. It’s been a few months since I went and I still think about it every day. Check out Joe’s Garage, it’s the best bar in town. And if you have the time, the booze cruise that is run by Joe’s Garage is a must -- it’s worth every penny.

I went to Lagos in July 2005. The town is fantastic with loads of great bars and restarants. I also went to Casa Rosa, the food is so good and so cheap.

This town is a must for anyone passing thorugh southern Spain or Portugal. The beaches are the most beautiful you'll ever see. The partying is also amazing. Try and come early in the summer or the spring. The crowds will be smaller, the weather warm but not too hot, and prices lower. Try and eat at Casa Rosa's, dirt cheap food, that is SO good. There is also a Prtugese place that serves HUGE servings for a decent price. I can't remember the name but ask a local, they'll hook you up. Also, do a Grotto tour. Definitely worth the 10 euros. The further you walk along the coast, the more deserted and beautiful the beaches become. Be warned, those who come to Lagos do NOT want to leave.
